The CORAL project aims to develop a set of deep underwater robotic systems for high resolution mapping and investigation (SPCI — “Deep Underwater Cartography and Inspection System”), associated industrial services and research and training activities in the field of mechatronics and underwater robotics. The CORAL project has three pillars: Pillar 1 (P1) “CORAL-SPCI”, aims to study and realise a deep underwater system, capable of operating up to 6.000 m deep and on 200 km (or 36h) dives for mapping and high-resolution inspection, for research programmes. Designed with a multitasking approach and capable of reconfiguring itself during diving, CORAL-SPCI is part of the AUV category “Autonomous Underwater Vehicule”. This new research infrastructure will be operated by IFREMER as part of the Very Large National Research Infrastructure (TGIR), French Oceanographic Fleet (FOF) for observation and surveillance missions. The ERDF grant is requested for this pillar.
