Pour faire face à un taux d'échec important, et surtout dans le but de prévenir et de réduire le décrochage scolaire en particulier dans les zones franciliennes les plus touchées, la Ligue de l'enseignement, Fédération des Yvelines, a mis en place des actions de médiation au sein des villes de Trappes et de Plaisir, deux communes que l'«Atlas académique des risques sociaux» identifie comme des zones à risques d'échec scolaire cumulant les fragilités économiques, familiales et culturelles. L'objectif de médiation est d'améliorer ou d'établir des relations entre les élèves, leurs parents et l'école, dans le but de favoriser les apprentissages et la réussite scolaire. Les médiateurs sont sollicités directement par les professionnels de l'école, les professionnels sociaux, ou bien par les élèves et leurs familles, lorsque la communication est coupée, bloquée ou quand ils n'arrivent plus à avoir d'échange avec leurs interlocuteurs. Les médiateurs favorisent la compréhension mutuelle entre les élèves, les parents et les enseignants à travers la mise en place de médiations individuelles ou collectives. Ces médiations ont pour but de faire évoluer les représentations des uns et des autres par le biais d'une meilleure connaissance des attentes et des contraintes respectives de chacun. (French)
