    LAS ELEVADAS EMISIONES DE DIOXIDO DE CARBONO (CO2) Y OTROS GASES DE EFECTO INVERNADERO ASOCIADAS AL TRANSPORTE PESADO TERRESTRE, HAN PROMOVIDO DISTINTAS ESTRATEGIAS GUBERNAMENTALES ENCAMINADAS AL DESARROLLO DE UN TRANSPORTE MAS EFICIENTE, ENTRE LAS QUE SE ENCUENTRA EL PLANTEAMIENTO DEL RETO SOCIAL "TRANSPORTE INTELIGENTE, SOSTENIBLE E INTEGRADO". EN ESTE CONTEXTO, EL PRESENTE PROYECTO PROPONE ESTUDIAR E IMPLEMENTAR MEJORAS AERODINAMICAS DEL RENDIMIENTO DE VEHICULOS DE BASE ROMA, COMO CAMIONES, CUYO CONSUMO DE COMBUSTIBLE SE VE ALTAMENTE PERJUDICADO DEBIDO A LA ELEVADA RESISTENCIA AERODINAMICA QUE IMPONEN LAS RESTRICCIONES DE FORMA. SE PROPONE EL EMPLEO DE DISPOSITIVOS PASIVOS OPTIMOS Y ESTRUCTURAS FLEXIBLES DE CONTROL, DISEÑADAS USANDO HERRAMIENTAS DE SENSIBILIDAD Y OPTIMIZACION TOPOLOGICA, E IMPLEMENTADAS EN LA PARTE TRASERA DEL VEHICULO PARA REDUCIR EL DRAG DE FORMA. ESTO SUPONDRIA UN AVANCE EN EL CONOCIMIENTO DE LOS MECANISMOS DE ESTABILIZACION Y CONTROL DE ESTELAS EN APLICACIONES REALES USANDO ESTRUCTURAS FLEXIBLES, CUYA APLICACION APENAS HA SIDO EXPLORADA HASTA LA FECHA, SIENDO FACILMENTE EXTRAPOLABLES Y ADAPTABLES A VEHICULOS DE OTRAS CARACTERISTICAS. PARA ELLO, SE LLEVARAN A CABO TRABAJOS NUMERICO-EXPERIMENTALES, INCLUYENDO ESTUDIOS DE INTERACCION FLUIDO-ESTRUCTURA Y MODELADO MEDIANTE DINAMICA DE SISTEMAS MULTICUERPO, PARA LA CARACTERIZACION ADECUADA DEL FUNCIONAMIENTO DE LOS DISPOSITIVOS FLEXIBLES. FINALMENTE SE PREVE DESARROLLAR UN PROTOTIPO, EN COLABORACION CON LA EMPRESA INTERESADA LECITRAILER S.A, PARA ESTUDIAR SU VIABILIDAD Y POSIBILIDAD DE EXPLOTACION. (Spanish)

    THE INCREASING EMISSIONS OF CARBON DIOXIDE (CO2) AND GREENHOUSE GASES RELATED TO HEAVY GROUND TRANSPORT HAVE LEAD GOVERNMENTS TO FOSTER INITIATIVES TOWARDS A MORE SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT, WITHIN WHICH THE SOCIETAL CHALLENGE "SMART, SUSTAINABLE AND INTEGRATED TRANSPORT" IS FRAMED. IN THIS CONTEXT, THIS PROJECT PROPOSES TO STUDY AND IMPLEMENT AERODYNAMICS ENHANCEMENT STRATEGIES FOR BLUNT-BASED VEHICLES, SUCH AS TRUCKS, WHOSE FUEL CONSUMPTION IS HIGHLY HINDERED BY FORM RESTRICTIONS AND ITS ASSOCIATED LARGE DRAG. THE PRESENT PROJECT AIMS AT USING OPTIMAL CONTROL PASSIVE DEVICES AND FLEXIBLE STRUCTURES, DESIGNED THROUGH SENSITIVITY TOOLS AND SHAPE OPTIMIZATION, THAT SHALL BE APPLIED AT THE REAR PART OR BASE OF THE VEHICLES, TO REDUCE THE DRAG ASSOCIATED TO ITS BLUNT SHAPE. THE CORRESPONDING ANALYSIS WOULD PROVIDE WITH A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF WAKE STABILIZATION IN REAL APPLICATIONS USING FLEXIBLE DEVICES, WHICH HAVE BEEN BARELY USED SO FAR AS A CONTROL STRATEGY, AND THAT COULD ALSO BE ADAPTED TO OTHER KIND OF VEHICLES. TO THIS END, NUMERICAL SIMULATIONS AND EXPERIMENTS WILL BE PERFORMED, INCLUDING NOW FLUID-STRUCTURE INTERACTION ANALYSIS AND MULTIBODY SYSTEM DYNAMICS, TO PROPERLY CHARACTERIZE THE BEHAVIOUR OF FLEXIBLE DEVICES. FINALLY, IT IS PLANNED TO DEVELOP A PROTOTYPE, IN COLLABORATION WITH THE SUPPORTING FIRM LECITRAILER S.A., TO STUDY ITS VIABILITY AND POTENTIAL FOR EXPLOITATION. (English)
