Projekt zakłada rozbudowę Arboretum w Wojsławicach – filii Ogrodu Botanicznego Uniwersytetu Wrocławskiego – o Polski Ogród Milenijny. Inspiracją do założenia Polskiego Ogrodu Milenijnego jest przypadający w 2017 r. jubileusz 1000-lecia bitwy o Niemczę oraz dynamiczny rozwój polskiej hodowli roślin ozdobnych i sadowniczych. W ogrodzie powstałym w ramach projektu uprawiane będą: - polskie odmiany roślin ozdobnych i sadowniczych otrzymane przez polskich hodowców - kolekcje zachowawcze ex situ wybranych roślin ginących, zagrożonych i chronionych. Nowy Ogród zostanie założony na gruntach porolnych, będących w posiadaniu Arboretum, w granicach administracyjnych Niemczy. Obecnie w Ogrodzie Botanicznym we Wrocławiu uprawia się 11 200 gatunków roślin, a w Arboretum w Wojsławicach uprawia się 11 600 taksonów. Założenie nowego Ogrodu zwiększy nie tylko powierzchnię edukacyjno-dydaktyczną Arboretum, ale przede wszystkim istniejącą różnorodność biologiczną o rodzime gatunki roślin i odmiany uprawne polskiej hodowli, przyczyni się do ochrony puli genowej roślin rodzimych i będzie bankiem genów żywych roślin utrzymywanych w gotowości do badań. Arboretum jest ważne nie tylko dla zachowania różnorodności biologicznej, ale też rozwoju społ-gosp. gminy Niemcza. Gospodarka gminy opiera się głównie na rolnictwie, z małym udziałem przemysłu, co jest przyczyną dużego bezrobocia. Szansą dla gminy jest wykorzystanie jej potencjału turystycznego m.in. poprzez podniesienie atrakcyjności Arboretum, jednej z najważniejszych atrakcji turystycznych regionu. Ważnym zadaniem Arboretum jest edukacja ekologiczna społeczeństwa. Arboretum posiada duży potencjał edukacyjno-przyrodniczy. Konieczny jest jednak dalszy rozwój obiektu i ubogacenie go roślinami cennymi z przyrodniczego i wystawienniczego punktu widzenia, uaktualnienie hodowli i dostosowanie do potrzeb w zakr. ochrony gatunkowej roślin. The project involves the expansion of Arboretum in Wojsława — a subsidiary of the University of Wrocław’s Botanical Garden — Poland’s Millennium Garden. The foundation of the Polish Millennium Garden is inspired by the 2017th anniversary of the Battle of 1000th anniversary of the Battle of Germans and the dynamic development of Polish ornamental plants and fruit plants. The following will be cultivated in the frame of the project: — Polish varieties of ornamental plants and fruit plants obtained by the Polish breeders — ex-situ conservation collections of selected, endangered and protected plants. The new garden will be set up on agricultural land held by Arboretum, within the administrative boundaries of Germany. At present, 11 200 plant species are grown in the Botanical Gardens in Wroclaw, and 11 600 taxa are grown in Arboretum. The establishment of the new Garden will not only increase the educational and educational surface of Arboretum, but above all the existing biodiversity of native plant species and strains of Polish livestock, will contribute to the conservation of the gene pool of native plants and will be a gene bank of live plants in readiness for research. The arboretum is important not only for preserving biodiversity but also for the social development of the German municipality. The municipality’s economy is mainly based on agriculture, with a small share of industry, which is the cause of high unemployment. It is an opportunity for the municipality to exploit its tourist potential, including by improving the attractiveness of Arboretum, one of the most important tourist attractions in the region. An important task of Arboretum is to educate the public. The arboretum has a high educational and natural potential. It is necessary, however, to further develop the plant and enrich it with high level plants with a natural and exhibition point of view, to update the breeding and adapt the plant species protection to the needs of the plant. The project is part of the priority actions of the Natura 2000 network for the designation of a Natura network. (English)
