Improving operational safety and communication of small work teams using the network VR environment (SENSE VR)
Property / summary

The aim of the SENSE VR project is to develop a training method for miners based on the use of an adaptive VR network environment. Adaptability will consist of the ability to adapt the transfer of knowledge and exercise skills to the level of competence of the trainee, understood as the ability to operate the VR environment smoothly. The implementation of the method will increase the effectiveness of training and improve the level of occupational safety in mines (i.e. reducing the number of accidents caused by the human factor). Within the framework of industrial research, the Consortium will develop component methods: 1) preparing branched VR scenarios based on reports on mining accidents, 2) designing adaptive VR environments, 3) conducting trainings taking into account branched scenarios in an adaptive VR environment. As part of the development work, the Consortium will prepare a demonstrator of the adaptive VR environment for miners, containing branched training scenarios. The result of the SENSE VR project will be: 1) in the technological area — a VR environmental demonstrator with instrumentation at the 8th level of technological readiness, produced on the basis of developed component methods; 2) in the commercial area — implementation of an optimised training process for miners in JSW SIG’s own business and improving the level of work safety in JSW. Reference_Aid_programme: SA.41471(2015/X) Purpose_public_aid: Article: 25 of Commission Regulation (EU) No 651/2014 of 17 June 2014 declaring certain categories of aid compatible with the internal market in the application of Articles 107 and 108 of the Treaty Urz. EU L 187/1 of 26.06.2014). (English)
