Electrification and automation can contribute to climate-friendly and innovative solutions in the automotive industry. Self-driving vehicles can, in turn, provide new opportunities for sustainable urban development. But this transition also poses a risk that smaller companies, especially the subcontractors, do not keep up with the development and are knocked out. In light of this, Stockholm and the regions in Öms, which together form the Fordonsdalen, have investigated the possibilities of strengthened cooperation in the automotive industry. The project will promote SMEs in the region to gain increased knowledge, knowledge and access to the joint research and innovation capacity including test and demonstration arenas. The target group is SMEs in the Stockholm region as subcontractors to the automotive industry, around 300 companies. The goal in the long term is that an infrastructure for support in the continued transformation work has been created that contributes to companies being able to successfully meet the vehicle industry’s transformation challenges.
