Main objective of the project is to strengthen cooperation of fire brigades operating on both sides of the Polish-Russian border, thus causing a more effective and efficient response abilities to threats resulting from first fires as a consequence of progressing climate change. Global warming favours the occurrence of forest fires. Three regions: the Warmian-Masurian Region, Podlasie Region and the Kaliningrad Distict have large areas of forests which causes risk of fire spread fires between these regions, creating common tasks for emergency services. As a result of the project, participants will improve qualifications, their joint ability to work out decisions to combat and eliminate the effects of forest fires, improve cooperation and management by mutual learning about their response systems. These actions will directly affect the strengthening of cross-border cooperation between project partners and, in consequence, provide faster and more effective assistance at the level expected by citizens. The project will facilitate joint training exercises, purchasing of the necessary equipment and enhancing knowledge and skills in forest fire fighting. The basic problem is insufficient equipment and incompatibility of items used by the services of both countries. The only solution is to provide services with vehicles and fire-fighting equipment and to improve cooperation through training and exercises. In addition, an interaction of personnel and equipment will be achieved through joint exercises and training, translating to effective forest firefighting on both sides of the border. Implementation of the project will directly contribute to the improvement of the environment and living conditions of the inhabitants of the regions affected by the project. The project will be helpful in creating an innovative cooperation network between the partners in order to build new, durable structures of action in the field of cross-border security and crisis management system.
