    THE RESULTS OF THE ITALIAN AND MATHEMATICS TESTS SHOW THAT STUDENTs’ OUTCOMES ARE SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER THAN BOTH THE NATIONAL AND REGIONAL AVERAGES. THE DATA PARTLY ATTRIBUTABLE TO THE FAMILY BACKGROUND OF STUDENTS PLACED ON LOW MIDDLE LEVELS. HOWEVER, THERE IS AN URGENT NEED FOR ACTION TO BRIDGE THE GAPS. INTERNAL ANALYSES SHOW THAT MOST STUDENTS HAVE CONSCIOUSLY CHOSEN TO ENROLL IN THE INSTITUTE BECAUSE OF THEIR ATTITUDES TOWARDS ARTISTIC DISCIPLINES, BUT CONSIDER NON-MARGINAL SUBJECTS WITH A CONSEQUENT LIMITED COMMITMENT TO STUDYING THEM. THE SUM OF POOR COMMITMENT AND LOW FAMILY BACKGROUND MEANS THAT OUTCOMES IN BASIC DISCIPLINES ARE NOT POSITIVE. THE PROJECT AIMED AT STUDENTS OF LOW SOCIAL BACKGROUND AND FROM CONTEXTS OF SOCIOCULTURAL DISCOMFORT AIMS TO EXPERIMENT AN INNOVATIVE APPROACH TO THE BASIC DISCIPLINES IN WHICH THE SKILLS IN ITALIAN MATHEMATICS ENGLISH AND (English)
