The project will contribute to development of border management operations, as well as positively influence the development of border safety. The aim of the project is development of border management operations as well as improvement of Belarusian-Polish border security by modernization of local area network (LAN) at road border crossing points (BCPs) “Bruzgi” and “Berestovitsa”. Expected results: improvement of transparency and effectiveness of customs control procedures that increase border safety especially in such spheres as prevention and reduction of illegal migration and trade of prohibited goods and fight with organized crime. Thus, those who benefit from project will be: cargo carriers and persons crossing the border at the border crossing points “Bruzgi” and “Berestovitsa” as well as personnel of border, customs and other services at border. Project objectives and expected results will be achieved by cross-border approach to the project implementation, as modernization of customs systems at road BCPs “Bruzgi” and “Berestovitsa” will create the conditions necessary for operative and safe border crossing in both directions (the only border between the European Union and Eurasian Economic Union). Outdated equipment (average service life more than 5 years) and low-speed communication channels are used at road BCPs “Bruzgi” and “Berestovitsa”. Modernization is required to reduce number of equipment failures, ensure safety of customs data and security of customs systems data transmission and personal data of persons crossing the border by public networks. Modernization of LAN will reduce number of breaks of customs control operations and reduce time of their execution. Implementation of project in Belarus will have a positive impact including on the adjacent road BCPs in Poland. Belarusian and Polish sides strive to modernize road BCPs in parallel on both sides.
