    Improvement of quality of healthcare in the area of orthopedics/rheumatology with a particular focus on osteoporosis – it is common PL-BY cross-border project challenge. Both partners point out common areas for improvement in this matter: insufficient medical infrastructure, lack of specialists focused on osteoporosis, lack of model solutions in diagnostics and treatment, low level of health awareness of inhabitants and its consequences, ect. The overall project objective is development of health protection in PL-BY borderland through implementation of joint initiative of Grodno and Suwalki Hospitals ‘Model Health Care Program to Fight Osteoporosis’, enhancing access to high quality health care services for diagnostics and treatment of osteoporosis, which will be achieved through the following changes to current situation: improvement of medical infrastructure, increasing expertise level of medical staff on base of exchange of experiences, good practices, deepen knowledge, increasing awareness of inhabitants on the role of prevention and early diagnosis to take effective treatment and lead normal, comfortable lifestyle. Project outputs i.e. implementation of 1 medical Model Health Care Program to Fight Osteoporosis for inhabitants of Podlaskie and Grodno regions, in which 85 pcs of specialized medical equipment will be bought and 2 facilities will be improved (Suwalki and Grodno Hospital) for improvement of 2 health care service (diagnostics and treatment of osteoporosis in Suwałki and Grodno Hospitals), covering 35 events supporting the development of public health for 2804 participants, all this will result in enhanced access to health care in the fields of osteoporosis for 1,82 mln adults. Cross-border approach will allow for the optimal use of the potential, know-how and good practices, and to fill the gaps of each of the partner institutions to achieve an optimal level and the highest access to high quality health care in the area of PL-BY borderl (Polish)
