THE MOUNTAIN FIGNATE HAS EXPERIENCED PROGRESSIVE DEPOPULATION OVER TIME AS A RESULT OF THE EARTHQUAKES IN 1997. THIS AREA, ON THE OTHER HAND, IS CHARACTERISED BY SIGNIFICANT TESTIMONIES OF HUMAN PRESENCE SINCE PREHISTORIC TIMES THROUGH THE PATHS OF MIGRATION PATHS CASTELLIERI AT PLACES OF WORSHIP ALONG THE APENNINE RIDGE. IN ADDITION, IT HAS IMPORTANT NATURAL FEATURES SUCH AS THE COLFIORITE MARSH FOR YEARS, WHICH HAS BEEN RECOGNISED AS WETLAND IN THE INTERNATIONAL INTEREST, AS WELL AS PLACES OF INTENSE EMOTIONAL IMPACT FOR THE HISTORICAL MEMORY OF RESISTANCE. THE AIM OF THIS PROJECT IS THEREFORE TO PROMOTE THESE DEPRESSED AND UNPOPULATED AREAS THROUGH THE CONSTRUCTION OF A TERRITORIAL SUSTAINABLE SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL TOURISM PROPOSAL. (English)
