Bike tourism has experienced exceptional growth in Europe over the past few years and provides the cross-border region with significant potential for economic development. Indeed, it is at the gates of the largest European bicycle tourism markets (Germany, the Netherlands and Flanders, with growing popularity in the United Kingdom, France and Wallonia). The project takes advantage of the increase in European bicycle customers to create a bicycle tourism offer around 3 major European EuroVelo cross-border routes (3, 4 and 5) and the Lys, to which the hub-point networks are hooked up, which are extended around 4 cross-border pockets and 1 experimental network in the Baie de Somme area. The project thus allows the development of sections, black spots and crossings as well as the installation of information and service points. A range of marketing tools and promotional campaigns is being carried out in cooperation with the ArdenneCyclo project. The project aims to provide a global response to a range of local issues. It structures a vast cross-border territory at the gates of the major bicycle touring regions and in conjunction with the major population basins, linking up their particular characteristics. The project partners thus contribute to the creation of a facilitated tourist experience on structured bicycle routes in a variety of environments: sea, countryside, city, lakes, canals. (English)
