Language and intercultural competencies are essential factors for positive development in the border regions. On the one hand, social and societal encounters are made possible and, on the other hand, a crucial foundation for a future innovative joint labour market is created. The political and administrative representatives, as well as the population (especially the parents) will have greater involvement. This should increase the acceptance and implicitness of the neighboring languages and encourage multilingualism in everyday social and economic life. Throughout the programme area, early neighbour language teaching/multilingualism and intercultural education in kindergartens and schools in the border regions will be intensified as part of the ""BIG” project. The priority objective is the quality development and continuity promotion of the range of languages, from kindergarten to the primary school, with a special focus on the interface between the two. Early and continuous language learning, teaching of the neighbour languages / mother tongue, as well as the qualification of teachers will be planned up to the final school year. Core outputs: - Preparation of a general package for future pedagogical work (guides, teaching and learning materials for continuous language education with the conscious involvement of parents as part of a common educational landscape, in both theory and practice. - Installation of a bilateral knowledge platform for the improved networking of the new innovative methods and materials. - Qualification of the teachers according to current scientific knowledge. Mutual encounters at all levels are thematically oriented, the main theme being the interculturality and integration of children and students. Overall approach: - Promotion of social and communicative competencies from early childhood. - Mediation of neighbour language skills and multilingualism in the inclusive approach in everyday life and learning situations in kindergarten and school. - Testing of cross-institutional methods, taking into account age-related, continuous language education. New topics - e.g. Polytechnics (NAWI), healthy lifestyles - are combined with language teaching and compared and expanded across cultures. - Compilation and testing of multilingual teaching materials. Innovation: - Cross-institutional approach to the above-mentioned points (cooperation between kindergarten caregivers/teachers), thus creating a continuous education landscape. - Bilateral networking of the educational offerings on the subject of continuous language education in the kindergarten/school interface, as well as polytechnic topics using a knowledge platform. - Involvement of administrative and educational institutions as responsible for the sustainable safeguarding of the results.
