    In the context of the factory of the future (RIS3 manufacturing), recent reports on the trends of manufacturing in Europe (H2020-FoF Programme, UK Foresight Future of Manufacturing, 2013, Plan Usine du futur - NFI 2014, RIS3), highlights that digital tools and flexible manufacturing systems involving autonomous robots are key technologies for reconfigurable and responsive factories, which can boost manufacturing reliability, reactivity and productivity (up to 30%). For SMEs, due to large variance in volume, small series and reduced time delay, the EU Business Innovation Observatory (Smart machines and tools – case study 45) indicated that automation and connected mobile robot platforms in flexible manufacturing systems is an innovative solution to tackle these challenges; which is at the core of CoRoT. This project tackles the common challenges 1 and 3 and aims to provide to manufacturing companies, especially SMEs, innovative and affordable technological solutions (collaborative and modular mobile robots), digital tools for flexible manufacturing and transitic systems and associated knowledge to improve their competitiveness. CoRoT will also reinforce the transfer between universities and industry in the FCE area with a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) from 4 to 7. To achieve these objectives research institutions will innovate with SMEs technology providers and integrators (BA Systèmes, CERI, AUTOFINA,…) to meet SMEs end-users needs (FORD suppliers like MJ Allen, CERI, Yeo Valley and clusters members, …) of various industrial sectors (automotive, mechanical, food, aeronautic, ...). The cross border aspect of this project is necessary to ensure the efficiency of proposed solution for SMEs with different culture. Add to that, partner specialisation and contact are complementary. 1. Constitution of a steering committee involving clusters and actors from the FCE area. In-depth analysis of industrial needs. 2. Development of mobile robot (using affordable and existing hardware technologies), of hardware and software bricks and of an integrated supervision and 3D simulation platforms. These enable SMEs to adapt its production and reconfigure its manufacturing tool in response to market changes. 3. Evaluation of developed solutions and the gain (productivity, flexibility, …) in at least 5 pilot industrial systems. A major task of CoRoT will be the cross border valorisation via B2B meetings, workshops and training sessions. New market opportunities for mobile robot (industry inspection, hospital logistic, surveillance, … ) will be studied. (English)
