Italy and Switzerland share geographically important water resources, including the catchment basin of Mera, a significant resource for economic-productive purposes and a context of considerable environmental importance with Natura 2000 sites. The project aims to carry out shared activities to support a common strategy (ie a technical-administrative-managerial collaboration), replicable in other similar contexts, thus causing a significant change in the management of common water resources. Today there are different rules and operating procedures in the two states and an ineffective communication activity; these actions in order to minimize potential conflicts of use and the risk of damage to the territory and its inhabitants. Particular attention will be given to the theme of solid transport (especially in the light of the recent landslide in Val Bondasca), for the protection of the territories, for the modulation of uses and for the protection of environments and species of interest. There will be cognitive actions (analyzes, surveys, modeling and field trials and technical-administrative meetings), implementation of interventions (on environments and species characterizing the aquatic system) also for the restoration of the ecological corridor of the Mera in the Natura 2000 Network Sites and to mitigate the effects of the serious landslide episode, as well as the definition of guidelines to support cross-border governance.
