The TRANSAE project aims to support a network of farmers in the transition to agro-ecology. This type of agriculture, which draws on ecological principles, is an agriculture that respects people and the environment and that is economically resilient. Based on a group of pioneering farmers in this field, the first step of the project's work is to understand their journey and the whole process that led them to turn to agro-ecology. Then, developing a method to support farmers allows them to take ownership of agro-ecological innovations. The second step, carried out in parallel, will be to formalise the system and practices of each farmer within the project. From a technical point of view, the objectives will be to maintain a living soil through the production of associated crops and autonomy in livestock farming through optimal fodder valuation techniques. Several experiments will be carried out with farmers, aimed at testing combinations of techniques that are not well mastered today but which could give a further boost to the performance of these agro-ecological systems.
