    The project FISHNAT, gathering 4 partners: Living Nature Foundation, the Branch of Its Possible Association Teleorman from Romania and "Tourism Fishing Club Association and the Association for Cross-Border Cooperation and Development “Danube Dobrudja” from Bulgaria and targeting the cross border area of districts Calarasi, Giurgiu, Teleorman – Silistra, Ruse, Veliko Tarnovo responds to the following programs’ challenges of the cross border area: 1) the need of speeding up socio-economic development and the necessity for conservation of natural heritage, sustainable tourism being the best sector that combines economic rational and protection logic; considering that the targeted area registered a reduced number of tourists in comparison with other regions such as Constanta, Dobrich but benefits of natural heritages (Danube, lakes, rivers, sloughs) that offers recreational fishing opportunity as already sport fishing is organised and fishery is a regular job for a part of population project proposed recreational fishing and derivatives activities to become touristic products, assuring conservation of the natural heritages; 2) seasonality of tourism as general challenge, during summer being registered most tourists on the cross border area Ro-Bg; As seasonal fishing prohibition is generally, depending on species of fish, between March and June, fishing as touristic product offers the opportunity of prolonging touristic season, increasing the number of tourists, encouraging local economic development link to tourism and connected services. The Project overall objective is to make recreational fishing and derivatives activities promoting cultural tangible and intangible heritages a cross border branded touristic product improving sustainable use of natural heritage and resources and cultural heritages. Project activities will invigorates the targeted area economy developing sustainable tourism based on natural resources and heritages, and cultural programs creating the joint brand FISHNAT to be jointly promoted. Project has as target groups: tourism operators (tourism agencies, tour-operators, accommodation, eating, transport and entertainment units), fishermen associations, native population as potential entrepreneurs and final beneficiaries tourists (Ro, Bg, international). The Project will conduct to increased number of tourist on targeted area contributing to present call output indicators with 9% to “number of integrated tourism products/services created (4 touristic products) and 4% to “number of common strategies, policies or management plans for valorising (including raising awareness) the cultural and natural heritage through its restoration and promotion for sustainable economic uses (1 joint marketing strategy). Regarding result indicator number of tourists overnights in the CBC region, considering a rate of 6000 tourists/1 project touristic package/1 year*3 package*4 Years (2020-2023)*2 overnight/tourist + 3000 tourists/FISHNAT festival/1 year*4 Years (2020-2023)*2 overnight/tourist) conduct to minimum overnights of 156000 due to the project implementation. Using an indicative budget of 490000 Euro, the main project activities are: 1) elaboration of 1 Study regarding joint recreational fishing touristic destination based on elaboration by Romanian and Bulgarian partners of inventory (data base) of fishing areas (including fish species) and existing accommodation and other facilities, accessibility and development potential ; 2) Identifying and defining 3 joint recreational fishing touristic packages branded FISHNAT (including logo, complementary cultural programs), based on the study and consultation with the main stakeholders in the area; 3) Development of informative materials on environmental protection and preservation when fishing that will be part of the touristic packages; 4) Monitoring the environment targeted by FISHNAT touristic packages – initially and during touristic use; 5) Elaboration of Joint marketing strategy for recreational fishing touristic packages and the brand FISHNAT; 6) Informative and promotional meetings with tourism operators, fishermen associations, including presentation of the 3 joint recreational fishing touristic packages (including participation to each pilot touristic package), benefits, implementation methodology, marketing strategy and promotional materials created within the project (to be free transferred for the tour operators use, including films with the 3 packages); 7) Organizing workshops for joint entrepreneurship development for native population on business linked to recreational fishing tourism (housing units, camp/tent sites, eating, transport and entertainment); 8) Organizing FISHNAT festival – as a touristic event/product gathering recreational, sport and professional fishing; in order to be sustained after completion of the project apart of free assistance offered by project’s partners to any of the tourism operators or/and local authorities within (English)
