Improvement of the health care services in the cross-border region and the access of the inhabitants and visitors to them. Information added on 2020-06-08, regarding the mitigation of the effects of COVID-19 (the coronavirus pandemic that started in 2019) (English language only): This project included, among others, also the purchase and installation of equipment and facilities in Kardzhali (Bulgaria) and Kavala (Greece), for confronting COVID-19 cases. Information added on 2021-02-10, regarding the mitigation of the effects of COVID-19 (the coronavirus pandemic that started in 2019) (English language only): The consortium of E/HEALTH project is on the front line of combating COVID19 due to its nature and responsibilities, thus additional activities were approved for funding by the Programme, in order to support them in the response to COVID19. These activities are focused mainly in the purchase of specialized medical equipment of primary need for the health care of patients infected by dangerous viruses, such as coronavirus; and in the prevention of the virus spread (Equipment: Negative Pressure Chambers and monitors to monitor vital functions; Monitor/TV set to promote health messages and instructions to people entering the Hospital; protective equipment; professional thermometers; defibrillators; electrocardiographs ECG). In addition, a Healthy Living Campaign is organised in Kavala and a Campaign for Emergency in Kardzali, in an attempt to raise the general public’s awareness, eliminating its fear. It is worth mentioning that the General Hospital of Kavala, GR (PB2) purchased in the framework of the project, a real-time PCR device, which is officially recognized by the National Public Health Organisation in Greece and allows the performance of SARS-CoV-2 tests. Even though the General Hospital of Kavala is not a reference centre for COVID-19, it reports since 21/04/2020 officially results to the National Health System in Greece. Until 26/11/2020, 8000 tests for COVID-19 have been performed using this device. (English)
