Cavan County Council has developed a PEACE IV Action Plan for the period 2016-2019 based on the needs and issues affecting different target groups as well as urban and rural areas of Cavan through a public consultation process. The Cavan County Council action plan was approved at a Steering Committee meeting held in November 2016. At this meeting the Steering Committee stated that the Stage 2 application lacked detail on the Shared Space element and the utilisation of funding. In order to meet the outputs, a Shared Space element is required within their Plan, but significant detail on the nature of the Shared Space projects was missing from the application. As a result, this element was recommended for removal and, on receipt of a detailed proposal for the Shared Space element, it would be presented to Steering Committee for a decision. Cavan Co Co presented 3 proposed projects to be considered under Shared Space and Services: Cavan Co Museum: Total Project Costs €380,300. Element 1: (€317,295) A proposed new shared space at Cavan County Museum, this area will be linked to the current Museum and provide a space for commemoration and shared education programmes. It will also provide a large exhibition / workshop / event space. The space is designed to overlook the Museums Peace Garden with suitable access leading to the Commemoration Exhibitions. Element 2: (€63,000) Development of an Active Age Park and Fairy Walk as a shared space for all the community. This element proposed to build a Fairy walk to physically transform a space to build a shared walking space which will bring all age groups together. The Active Age Park would include outdoor gym equipment and a sensory garden and work in partnership with Ballyjamesduff Community Crèche and Community Council. (This element would be rejected at Steering Committee and the costs redistributed to address weaknesses in the other 2 proposals). Cavan Town Hall: Total Project Costs €247,600. This project proposes to renovate the current Cavan Town hall to a fit for purpose arts centre that will serve the needs of all communities in Cavan and neighbouring counties. This space will accommodate a board range of the arts, including theatre, visual arts, literature, music, dance and film. Bailieborough Development Association: Total Project Costs €335,338. This proposed project represents phase 2 of a 3 phase redevelopment of the former courthouse in Bailieborough as a shared community space consisting of 3 interlinked elements. Phase 2 proposes a Multi-purpose shared community space, which will accommodate performances, choirs and community engagement. (English)
