Due to the economic pressure and the lack of natural resource management, protected areas are exposed to great risks because of illegal exploitations, tourism, constructions, and poaching. No major or effective cooperative measures (e.g. joint planning, strategies, mapping, management plans or coordinated management tools) related to biodiversity conservation and landscape protection and promotion in Natura 2000 sites have been elaborated and enforced so far. Industrial risk is also a major threat to the integrity of Natura 2000 sites and biodiversity. The cross-border region contains areas which are subject to industrial risks. Activities: A1. Project management and monitoring; A2. Development and implementation of a coordinated management plan for Natura 2000 sites in the cross border Danube area; A3. Information system development and implementation to support the management plan; A4.Information and publicity for the project; public awarness concerning Natura 2000 sites; Output: 1) Number of common strategies, policies or management; 2) Surface area of habitats supported to attain a better conservation status (ha) (COI); Result: NATURA 2000 sites in the cross border area with coordinated management tools. The Natura 2000 sites addressed are: Romania: 1. ROSPA0024 Confluenta Olt-Dunare (20.960 HA);2. ROSPA0102 Suhaia (4.473 HA); Bulgaria 1. BG0002018 Ostrov Vardim (1167 HA); 2. BG0002070, Ribarnitsi Hadzhi Dimitrovo (446 HA); (English)
