Aviation companies have difficulty recruiting technically educated personnel. There is a discrepancy between the needs of the companies and the education being offered. 'Educavia' therefore invests in uniform training of aviation technicians in the border region, an educational offering that is tailored to the needs in both countries. Thanks to the creation of a knowledge region around aeronautical techniques, the market's needs and innovative trends can be responded to more quickly. The project establishes the MRO sector (maintenance, repair and overhaul) in the region so that a qualitative intake of new employees is ensured. 'Educavia' implements a level 5 program that forms an intermediate step between secondary education and a Bachelor's degree program. It focuses specifically on adults who aspire to a career switch or young people who want to choose education in aeronautical technical studies at the start of their higher education. If successful, this course will be added to the curriculum of VIVES polytechnic college. In addition, it provides a training framework to teach students and employees the new aviation developments in, among other things, electrically powered aircraft and drones, high tech materials or 3D printing. An accelerated introduction of digital learning and training platforms with a focus on e-learning / Computer Base Training (CBT) modules should also ensure a rapid influx. Finally, the project aims to set up Part 147 certified training or exam centers in Flanders, strategically located in Ostend at VLOC and in Zaventem at ZAVO, where regular education is also followed. The part 66/147 framework guarantees that educated technicians can be deployed anywhere in Europe, which makes labor mobility possible. With these aviation training programs, 'Educavia' wants to achieve substantively reformed and new training programs and structures for 500 students in mainstream education and 7,000 employees in the MRO companies annually during the period of the project.
