The main aim of the project is to promote the historical, natural, and cultural heritage of the Szczytno District and the Svetlogorsk City District through the development of cross-border tourism. As part of the project, a bicycle path of nearly 23 km long was built in the Dźwierzuty commune, along the old railway line that used to connect Szczytno with Biskupiec. After tracks were dismantled, an embankment remained, where an asphalt surface for cyclists was laid. As part of the project, 10 viaducts near the bicycle path were also renovated. On the Russian side of the border, the “Listvennichny” park in Svetlogorsk was modernized. The scope of works included, among others, reconstruction of sidewalks and construction of a new decorative fence highlighting the historical heritage of this site. The sculpture “Water Carrier” was restored and a waterfall was installed next to it as well as copies of statuesque “Sphinxes” were made. Summer Central Art Stage has been installed in the “Listvennichny” park. The modern facility has been equipped with a sound system, wi-fi points and a video surveillance system. The Svetlogorsk City District also purchased musical instruments, costumes for artists and a children's dance group. The project also includes a bicycle rally in the Szczytno District along the newly constructed bicycle path. Promotional activities in Svetlogorsk involved an “Interregional Art Festival” and an “Interregional Repertory Bank”, with cultural events such as an exhibition, concert, meetings on preserving cultural heritage and festivals held.
