The National Park Podyjí and the National Park Thayatal jointly protect the nature of the Dyje Valley between Vranov nad Dyjí and Znojmo. Since nature knows no borders, the two protected area administrations cooperate very closely in fulfilling their tasks. However, currently there is only one direct road connection between the two protected areas. Visitors who wish to visit the national park of the neighboring country can only cross the Thaya bridge in Hardegg. By creating two cross-border circular hiking trails, visitors should be able to experience the Thayatal even better as a common natural area and as a common protected area. By crossing the state border, the cross-border character of these nature reserves is established in the visitors' awareness. Through encounters of Czech and Austrian visitors, the National Park Thayatal-Podyjí will become a project connecting people. Concretely, this project will create two new circular hiking trails in the National Parks Thayatal and Podyjí. On the one hand the "Hardegger Rundweg", on the other hand the "Einsiedler Rundweg". In order to realize the two circular hiking trails, two bridges will be built by the two national park administrations. These will be constructed as suspension bridges and will be used exclusively by pedestrians. In the Czech national park Podyjí there are already three such suspension bridges, the newly planned bridges are to be built in the same style, construction and form. The bridges will be constructed as cable suspension bridges, with two steel portal pylons and a wooden superstructure suspended from two supporting cables. The walkable bridge decking consists of impregnated wooden planks. The material and construction solution of the bridges in no way disturbs the surrounding landscape. The bridges consist of a subtle cable structure with the superstructure mainly made of natural materials (oak wood). Steel structural elements are covered with protective coatings in dark green color suitable for the material, wooden elements made of hard oak wood are treated with impregnation oil. The railing infill is made of dark green plastic-coated wire mesh. The construction project of two new suspension bridges will not affect the milieu of the valuable area along the two rivers Thayaufern in the National Parks Thayatal and Podyjí and will not worsen the environmental conditions. During implementation, there will be no need for connection to a power line or other utility networks. The bridges will be built on existing hiking routes and trails. These routes will be reconnected with the bridges on marked trails. (English)
