With the adoption of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015, the whole world has agreed on a plan for a sustainable future. The Region of Southern Denmark is committed to contributing to the SDGs. The Regional Development Strategy for 2020-2023, ["The Future Southern Denmark"], addresses the SDGs and the goals the region should focus on in the coming years, how they are implemented and how to work together to find the best solutions. The SDGs set a common global agenda for sustainable development and rapid action to tackle global challenges. The regional development strategy is therefore also an invitation to work together to develop a coherent, attractive and sustainable region. But the challenges that exist worldwide and the means available to tackle them vary widely. Therefore, we need to "translate" the SDGs into local and regional conditions. The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are high on the political agenda. "Acting sustainably means using available resources in a way that meets the needs of current generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs." [Federal Statistical Office, Sustainable Development in Germany, Indicator Report 2018]. The principle of the "SARA" project idea is that the activities for implementing the above-mentioned challenges are based on the partner organizations' needs and current status in the program region. The project has a demand-driven approach that supports each partner individually in implementing the SDGs. The project also aims to translate UN Sustainability Goals at the local level, develop measurement methods and indicators, provide partners with access to collaborate on common challenges, exchange knowledge and best practices, arrange workshops and network meetings for qualification. The focus is on individual implementation and mutual learning between partners. (English)
