The governments of Slovakia and Hungary are aiming at a breakthrough in the food industry which has suffered a considerable decline in the past three decades. As a result of global competition in the food market, the value of R&I methods used in the food industry increases. There is a growing demand for high-quality, safer, healthier products with a higher added value. In the food industry, product innovation is much more common than technological and production innovation which cannot be carried out by micro and small entreprises. Due to the decrease in food industry, workforce has decreased as well as the knowledge base needed for innovations. Moreover, most businesses do not have their own development capacities. The main purpose of the TAPE is to create a sustainable food industry in the border areas which will be internationally competitive while supporting the development of new working places via the increasing productivity and efficiency of the businesses. In the research sphere, a tool park and staff providing new technological recommendations will be established. Furthermore, a nutrition, quality and methods control centre will be set up. Businesses involved in FOOD INDUSTRY will create 7 new jobs by providing innovative manufacturing technologies. They will be available as innovatory demonstrational plants for those who are interested. Knowledge transfer conferences will be organized for raising awareness and spreading technological knowledge and the established innovation system among future food producers, processors, potential buyers and partners ensuring that existing knowledge is shared and transferred. During the TAPE tripartit cooperation will be launched among research facilities, entrepreneurs and advocacy chambers, providing an example value algorithm that can be used by other businesses as well.
