The main aim of the project is the protection and promotion of cultural, historical and natural heritage in the Kaliningrad Region and the Pomeranian Voivodeship. Thanks to the project, a new permanent exhibition was created in the new premises of the Museum of Amber in Gdańsk. On the first floor there is an exhibition on the relationship between amber and nature (including the “amber forest” known from the previous premises of the museum), while on the second floor there is an exhibition on the importance of amber in culture, where we can learn about its history from prehistoric to modern times and where amber chess set from 1690 is presented in a special showcase. The project partner on the Russian side of the border is the Museum of the World Ocean, which, as part of the project, prepared a construction and executive design for the conservation and adaptation of the historic building which housed the amber manufactory in Kaliningrad. What is more, 6 garages located at the back of the manufactory will be converted into conservation and exhibition rooms as well as appropriate equipment and fittings will be purchased. The project partners also planned several “soft” activities. The Russian partner has planned workshops on the conservation of historic buildings and the use of amber in medicine. The project also includes a board exhibition presenting common amber heritage. (English)
