MICRO WATTS aims at mitigating problems of water shortage in Malta and Sicily by reclaiming greywater from kitchens, bathroom sinks and showers and reuseing them for toilet flushing after adequate treatment thus improving health and quality of life. In particular, a micro greywater solar water treatment system will be developed. The project will carry out: - the identification of a number of polymers and surfaces with photocatalytic potential, that's to say with a decontamination capability. - periodical tests on photocatalytic effectiveness of the samples produced and characterised in order to assess their decontamination capability. - installation of the best performing materials in pilot solar absorbers designed by the 2 SMEs within the partnership. - bacteriological field tests on the treated water. - design and build two standalone micro solar water treatment systems suitable to be deployed in a typical domestic residence or small scale industrial concerns.
