The project involves the modernisation of road connections comprising a single communication route linking the Čadca District in Slovakia with tourist cities in Cieszyn Poviat (Wisła, Ustroń, Istebna) and Bielsko-Biała Poviat (Szczyrk) through the TEN-T corridor and a new PL-SK road connection Jaworzynka-Čierne leading through Gmina Istebna and Čierne District (the project “Construction of the Jaworzynka-Čierne-Skalite cross-border connection, stage 2 in Jaworzynka, Gmina Istebna”, projected completion on 31 May 2018). Task scope: – LP – reconstruction of 1.344 km of poviat road no. 2675S in Czarne (Wisła) and mdoernisation of a bridge across the Vistula River and the related infrastructure; – LP1 – reconstruction of 1.657 km of road no. II/487 Čadca-Makov-Vysoká nad Kysucou in the section directly connected to the secondary TEN-T node in Čadca (D3); – LP2 – expansion of the gmina road in Jaworzynka of 1.30 km in length, linked to the poviat road no. 2644S in Jaworzynka and voivodeship road (DW) no. 943 as well as the new road connection Jaworzynka-Čierne with Slovakia. All the road sections and bridges are located within a single traffic route connecting attractive areas of cities and municipalities in Poland and Slovakia. The expected results for the project’s beneficiaries will be as follows: improved communication accessibility, reduced time of crossing the border, improved safety, increased mobility of residents and tourists and reduced congestion. The poor technical condition of roads and bridges and narrow roads are a huge impediment to tourism and local traffic, weakening cross-border contacts in this border area. The project addresses the problem of the poor technical condition of the existing mountain roads in the Polish-Slovak border area. Joint actions of the partners regarding the improvement of the quality of connections to the TEN-T network in the borderland facilitate quicker and safer travels to workplaces, relaxation and recreational sites and business through the new connection Jaworzynka-Čierne.
