AI-DA -hankkeen päätavoitteena on kehittää tekoälyyn liittyvää alueellista osaamista ja sen avulla edistää uusien tekoälyyn liittyvien liiketoimintamahdollisuuksien luomista sekä tutkimuksen ja yritysten välisen yhteistyön kehittämistä. Tavoitteet saavutetaan kehittämällä tekoälyn soveltavaa tutkimusta, luomalla uusia tekoälyratkaisuja, testaamalla niitä todellisissa tuotantoympäristöissä sekä kehittämällä tekoälyn alueellista innovaatio- ja liiketoiminnan osaamisverkostoa.Tekoälypohjaisten ratkaisujen merkitys erilaisten tuotantoprosessien hallinnassa kasvaa globaalilla tasolla jatkuvasti, ja työ- ja elinkeinoministeriön mukaan myös suomalaisen teollisuuden tulisi ottaa rohkeasti käyttöön digitaalisia tekoälyä hyödyntäviä ratkaisuja ja uusia liiketoimintamalleja. Tekoälyn hyödyntämisessä ollaan maailmalla jo pitkällä, mutta data-analytiikan merkityksen kasvu on selvä trendi myös Suomessa. Erilaisten luonnonvarojen hyödyntämiseen liittyvillä teknisillä ratkaisuilla on niin ikään maailmanlaajuisesti suuri merkitys ja sitä kautta myös merkittävä tulevaisuuden liiketoimintapotentiaali. Esimerkiksi sellun ja pakkauskartongin kysyntä ovat olleet maailmalla vahvassa kasvussa. Nousujohteinen tuotanto luo kuitenkin myös haasteita, jotka liittyvät mm. lopputuotteen laatuun ja erilaisiin ympäristötekijöihin. Tekoälypohjaiset järjestelmät ovat potentiaalinen ratkaisu tämänkaltaisten ongelmien hallintaan.AI-DA -hankkeessa toteutetaan uudenlainen soveltava lähestymistapa tekoälyyn ja ennen kaikkea sen soveltamiseen erilaisissa tuotantoprosesseissa. Tekoälyn alustaratkaisu sisältää kaksi älykkään järjestelmän kannalta merkittävää asiaa, eli itseoppivuuden ja muistin (pitkän ja lyhyen aikavälin muisti) elementit. Lisäksi tekoälyn opettaminen voidaan aloittaa ilman massiivista alkutilanteen datamäärää, mikä on uudenlainen lähestymistapa tekoälyn käytännön soveltamiseen. Hankkeessa kehitettävät menetelmät ja sovellukset tullaan testaamaan todellisissa tuotantoympäristöissä. (Finnish)

The main objective of the AI-DA project is to develop regional AI-related competences and to contribute to the creation of new AI-related business opportunities and to the development of research and business cooperation. The objectives are achieved by developing applied research in artificial intelligence, creating new AI solutions, testing them in real production environments, and developing a regional innovation and business reference network for AI. Artificial intelligence-based solutions are becoming increasingly important at global level in managing different production processes, and according to the Ministry of Employment and the Economy, Finnish industry should boldly adopt digital AI-enabled solutions and new business models. The use of artificial intelligence is already at an advanced stage in the world, but the growing importance of data analytics is also a clear trend in Finland. Technological solutions related to the exploitation of different natural resources also play an important role in the global context and thus also have a significant business potential for the future. For example, demand for pulp and packaging board has been growing strongly around the world. However, rising production also creates challenges related to, for example, the quality of the finished product and various environmental factors. AI-based systems are a potential solution to managing problems of this kind. The AI-DA project implements a new applied approach to AI and, above all, to its application in different production processes. The AI platform solution includes two important elements for the smart system, namely the elements of self-learning and memory (long and short-term memory). In addition, teaching AI can begin without a massive amount of data in the initial situation, which is a new approach to the practical application of AI. The methods and applications developed by the project will be tested in real production environments. (English)

L’objectif principal du projet AI-DA est de développer des compétences régionales en matière d’IA et de contribuer à la création de nouvelles opportunités commerciales liées à l’IA et au développement de la recherche et de la coopération commerciale. Les objectifs sont atteints en développant la recherche appliquée en intelligence artificielle, en créant de nouvelles solutions d’IA, en les testant dans des environnements de production réels et en développant un réseau régional d’innovation et de référence commerciale pour l’IA. Les solutions basées sur l’intelligence artificielle prennent de plus en plus d’importance au niveau mondial dans la gestion des différents processus de production. Selon le ministère de l’emploi et de l’économie, l’industrie finlandaise devrait audacieusement adopter des solutions numériques fondées sur l’IA et de nouveaux modèles d’entreprise. L’utilisation de l’intelligence artificielle en est déjà à un stade avancé dans le monde, mais l’importance croissante de l’analyse des données est également une tendance évidente en Finlande. Les solutions technologiques liées à l’exploitation de différentes ressources naturelles jouent également un rôle important dans le contexte mondial et ont donc un potentiel commercial important pour l’avenir. Par exemple, la demande de cartons de pâte et d’emballage a fortement augmenté dans le monde entier. Cependant, l’augmentation de la production crée également des défis liés, par exemple, à la qualité du produit fini et à divers facteurs environnementaux. Les systèmes basés sur l’IA sont une solution potentielle à la gestion de tels problèmes. Le projet AI-DA met en œuvre une nouvelle approche appliquée de l’IA et, surtout, de son application dans différents processus de production. La solution de plateforme d’IA comprend deux éléments importants pour le système intelligent, à savoir les éléments de l’autoapprentissage et de la mémoire (mémoire à long et à court terme). En outre, l’enseignement de l’IA peut commencer sans une quantité massive de données dans la situation initiale, ce qui constitue une nouvelle approche de l’application pratique de l’IA. Hauptziel des AI-DA-Projekts ist es, regionale KI-bezogene Kompetenzen zu entwickeln und zur Schaffung neuer KI-bezogener Geschäftsmöglichkeiten und zur Entwicklung von Forschung und Unternehmenskooperation beizutragen. Die Ziele werden erreicht durch die Entwicklung der angewandten Forschung im Bereich der künstlichen Intelligenz, die Schaffung neuer KI-Lösungen, die Erprobung in realen Produktionsumgebungen und die Entwicklung eines regionalen Innovations- und Unternehmensreferenznetzwerks für KI. Künstliche Intelligenz-basierte Lösungen werden auf globaler Ebene bei der Verwaltung verschiedener Produktionsprozesse immer wichtiger, und nach Angaben des Ministeriums für Beschäftigung und Wirtschaft sollte die finnische Industrie mutig digitale KI-gestützte Lösungen und neue Geschäftsmodelle annehmen. Der Einsatz künstlicher Intelligenz ist in der Welt bereits weit fortgeschritten, aber die zunehmende Bedeutung der Datenanalyse ist auch in Finnland ein klarer Trend. Technologische Lösungen im Zusammenhang mit der Nutzung verschiedener natürlicher Ressourcen spielen auch im globalen Kontext eine wichtige Rolle und haben damit auch ein erhebliches Geschäftspotenzial für die Zukunft. So ist die Nachfrage nach Zellstoff und Verpackungskarton weltweit stark gestiegen. Eine steigende Produktion stellt jedoch auch Herausforderungen im Zusammenhang mit z. B. der Qualität des Endprodukts und verschiedenen Umweltfaktoren dar. KI-basierte Systeme sind eine mögliche Lösung, um Probleme dieser Art zu bewältigen. Das AI-DA-Projekt implementiert einen neuen angewandten Ansatz für KI und vor allem für seine Anwendung in verschiedenen Produktionsprozessen. Die KI-Plattformlösung umfasst zwei wichtige Elemente für das intelligente System, nämlich die Elemente des Selbstlernens und des Gedächtnisses (Lang- und Kurzzeitgedächtnis). Darüber hinaus kann KI in der Anfangssituation ohne massive Datenmenge beginnen, was ein neuer Ansatz für die praktische Anwendung von KI ist. Die vom Projekt entwickelten Methoden und Anwendungen werden in realen Produktionsumgebungen getestet. (German)

Het hoofddoel van het KI-DA-project is regionale KI-gerelateerde competenties te ontwikkelen en bij te dragen tot het creëren van nieuwe KI-gerelateerde zakelijke kansen en tot de ontwikkeling van onderzoek en samenwerking tussen bedrijven. De doelstellingen worden bereikt door toegepast onderzoek op het gebied van kunstmatige intelligentie te ontwikkelen, nieuwe AI-oplossingen te creëren, deze te testen in echte productieomgevingen, en een regionaal innovatie- en bedrijfsreferentienetwerk voor AI te ontwikkelen. Op kunstmatige intelligentie gebaseerde oplossingen worden op mondiaal niveau steeds belangrijker bij het beheer van verschillende productieprocessen, en volgens het ministerie van Werkgelegenheid en Economie moet de Finse industrie krachtig gebruikmaken van op AI gebaseerde oplossingen en nieuwe bedrijfsmodellen. Het gebruik van kunstmatige intelligentie bevindt zich al in een vergevorderd stadium in de wereld, maar het toenemende belang van data-analyse is ook een duidelijke trend in Finland. Technologische oplossingen in verband met de exploitatie van verschillende natuurlijke hulpbronnen spelen ook een belangrijke rol in de mondiale context en hebben dus ook een aanzienlijk bedrijfspotentieel voor de toekomst. Zo groeit de vraag naar pulp en verpakkingskarton over de hele wereld sterk. De stijgende productie brengt echter ook uitdagingen met zich mee, bijvoorbeeld in verband met de kwaliteit van het eindproduct en verschillende milieufactoren. AI-gebaseerde systemen zijn een potentiële oplossing voor dit soort problemen. Het AI-DA-project implementeert een nieuwe toegepaste aanpak van AI en vooral voor de toepassing ervan in verschillende productieprocessen. De AI-platformoplossing bevat twee belangrijke elementen voor het slimme systeem, namelijk de elementen van zelfleren en geheugen (lang en kort geheugen). Daarnaast kan het leren van KI beginnen zonder een enorme hoeveelheid gegevens in de oorspronkelijke situatie, wat een nieuwe aanpak is voor de praktische toepassing van KI. L'obiettivo principale del progetto AI-DA è sviluppare competenze regionali in materia di IA e contribuire alla creazione di nuove opportunità commerciali legate all'IA e allo sviluppo della ricerca e della cooperazione tra imprese. Gli obiettivi sono raggiunti sviluppando la ricerca applicata nell'intelligenza artificiale, creando nuove soluzioni di IA, testandole in ambienti di produzione reali e sviluppando una rete regionale di riferimento per l'innovazione e le imprese per l'IA. Le soluzioni basate sull'intelligenza artificiale stanno diventando sempre più importanti a livello globale nella gestione dei diversi processi produttivi, e secondo il ministero del Lavoro e dell'economia, l'industria finlandese dovrebbe adottare con coraggio soluzioni basate sull'intelligenza artificiale e nuovi modelli di business. L'uso dell'intelligenza artificiale è già in una fase avanzata nel mondo, ma la crescente importanza dell'analisi dei dati è anche una chiara tendenza in Finlandia. Anche le soluzioni tecnologiche legate allo sfruttamento di diverse risorse naturali svolgono un ruolo importante nel contesto globale e hanno quindi anche un potenziale commerciale significativo per il futuro. Ad esempio, la domanda di pasta e cartone per imballaggio è cresciuta fortemente in tutto il mondo. Tuttavia, l'aumento della produzione crea anche sfide legate, ad esempio, alla qualità del prodotto finito e a vari fattori ambientali. I sistemi basati sull'IA sono una potenziale soluzione per gestire problemi di questo tipo. Il progetto AI-DA implementa un nuovo approccio applicato all'IA e, soprattutto, alla sua applicazione in diversi processi produttivi. La soluzione della piattaforma AI comprende due elementi importanti per il sistema intelligente, vale a dire gli elementi dell'autoapprendimento e della memoria (memoria a lungo e breve termine). Inoltre, l'insegnamento dell'IA può iniziare senza una massiccia quantità di dati nella situazione iniziale, che è un nuovo approccio all'applicazione pratica dell'IA. El principal objetivo del proyecto AI-DA es desarrollar competencias regionales relacionadas con la IA y contribuir a la creación de nuevas oportunidades de negocio relacionadas con la IA y al desarrollo de la investigación y la cooperación empresarial. Los objetivos se logran desarrollando la investigación aplicada en inteligencia artificial, creando nuevas soluciones de IA, probándolas en entornos de producción reales y desarrollando una red regional de innovación y referencia empresarial para la IA. Las soluciones basadas en la inteligencia artificial están adquiriendo cada vez más importancia a nivel mundial en la gestión de los diferentes procesos de producción, y según el Ministerio de Empleo y Economía, la industria finlandesa debería adoptar audazmente soluciones digitales habilitadas para la IA y nuevos modelos de negocio. El uso de la inteligencia artificial ya se encuentra en una etapa avanzada en el mundo, pero la creciente importancia del análisis de datos también es una tendencia clara en Finlandia. Las soluciones tecnológicas relacionadas con la explotación de los diferentes recursos naturales también desempeñan un papel importante en el contexto mundial y, por lo tanto, también tienen un potencial empresarial significativo para el futuro. Por ejemplo, la demanda de cartón de pasta y embalaje ha ido creciendo fuertemente en todo el mundo. Sin embargo, el aumento de la producción también crea desafíos relacionados, por ejemplo, con la calidad del producto acabado y con diversos factores medioambientales.
