Az 1925. március 17.-i alakuló közgyűlés hívta életre Nógrád megye egyik legnagyobb múlttal rendelkező sportegyesületét a Nagybátony-Bányatelepi Olvasó és Sportegyletet. A frissen megalakult klub mögött a Nagybátony Újlak egyesült Iparművek Rt. állt. A zöld-pirosak (merthogy ez volt a kezdetekben a csapat színe) első elnökének Sallai Sándort választották, a tagságot pedig szigorú kritériumok alapján lehetett elnyerni. Mi sem természetesebb, hogy a foci a nehéz munkát végző bányászok legkedveltebb szórakozásává vált. A II. világháborút követően megalakult a Nagybátonyi Bányász Sport Club. A szeretett "NOSE" név azonban már elválaszthatatlanul tovább élt a bátonyi focival. A csapat színe is ekkor változott fekete-fehérre. A nógrádi bányatröszt által finanszírozott együttes a "Stécé" kisöccseként általában NB-s osztályokban szerepelt. Az 1967-es Dávid Róbert edző irányította gárda az NB I kapujában is állt, de a bajnokság végén lecsúszott az NB I/B feljutást jelentő helyeiről. A "kisvárosi legenda" szerint azért, mert a Nógrádi Szénbányák nem bírt volna el két NB I-es csapatot, hiszen a "nagytestvér" Salgótarján ott szerepelt. 1990-es évektől kezdődően a szénbányászat leépülésével egyidőben a csapat is visszaesett. 1992-ben elhagyta nevéből a Bányász jelzőt, azóta szerepel Nagybátonyi SC néven a megyei első osztályban váltakozó sikerrel. A Nagybátony mindig is nagyszerű nevelőegyesületnek számított, (olyan válogatott labdarúgók indultak innen, mint Kardos József Újpest vagy Kovács István Vasas) jelenleg is jobbára saját nevelésű labdarúgókra épül a csapata. Bátonyban még sokan emlékeznek a régi nagy csatákra, és reméljük, hogy egyszer az álom újra valósággá válik. Ennek reményében Bátonyterenye Város vezetése és a Sportegyesület jelenlegi vezetőinek gondolata és összefogása révén 2017. évben Bátonyterenyei Torna Club Sportegyesület néven újból megteremtették a bátonyi labdarúgás lehetőségét. Az újonnan alakult sportegyesület a régi idők színhelyén, a városban található labdarúgó pályán és a hozzá tartozó öltöző helyiségben kezdte meg a labdarúgást szerető gyerekek és felnőttek edzését. A használt infrastruktúra a hosszú évek során elhasználódott, ezért szükséges az öltöző helyiség belső tereinek teljeskörű felújítása. A tervezett fejlesztés eredményeként a sportolásra alkalmas zárt belső terek felújítása révén az utánpótlás nevelési kezdeményezések támogatása válik valóra. (Hungarian)

The inaugural assembly of 17 March 1925 established one of Nógrád county’s sports clubs with the greatest history. Behind the newly formed club was the Unified Industrial Works Rt. Sándor Sallai was chosen as the first president of the Green-Red (because this was the colour of the team in the beginning) and the membership was awarded on the basis of strict criteria. Nor is it natural that football has become the most popular entertainment for miners doing hard work. After World War II, the Nagybátony Bányász Sport Club was founded. However, the beloved name “NOSE” lived inextricably with Bátonyi soccer. The colour of the team changed to black and white. The group financed by the Nógrád Mining Trust was usually included in the NB class as a small brother of ‘Stécé’. The 1967 David Róbert team was also at the gate of the NB I, but at the end of the championship it slipped down from the NB I/B positions. According to the “small-town legend”, it was because the Nógrád Coal Mines could not have taken two NB I teams, since the “big brother” was in Salgótarján. Since the 1990s, the team also declined as coal mining declined. In 1992, he left his name “Bányász”, since then he has been named Nagybátonyi SC in the county’s first class with alternating success. Grandfather has always been a great foster club, and it is mostly based on home-grown footballers (such as József Kardos Újpest or Kovács István Vasas). In Bátony, many still remember the great old battles, and we hope that one day the dream will become a reality again. In the hope of this, through the leadership of Bátonyterenye City and the thought and cooperation of the current leaders of the Sports Association, Bátonyterenyei Torna Club Sports Association was re-established in 2017. The used infrastructure has been worn out over the years, therefore it is necessary to completely renovate the interiors of the changing room.
