The project InVäst, Integration WestSweden, aims to strengthen municipalities and other organisations competence in the reception and integration of newcomers; by increased knowledge among employees the project will improve the conditions for new inhabitants in the region. The project focuses on three main areas: language as a key to active participation in society, knowledge assessment for further training, and new meetings - approach and attitude. The language is the key for integration. This part of the project will focus on skills and process management to strengthen the quality of Sfi (Swedish for immigrants). As well as build a digital platform that enables competence enhancement for employees of the SFI independent of time and place, and after the project, and that can be spread nationally. Knowledge Assessment is about to develop a support material for the assessment of formal and informal knowledge acquired prior to placement in the upper secondary school. New meetings is about offering venues / conferences where employees in all beneficiary organizations that face newcomers can meet and receive training in intercultural competence. The project will be implemented over three years starting in September 2016. In order to create a sustainable project that could have an impact for the beneficiary organizations throughout Western Sweden (55 municipalities, Västra Götaland and Halland) the project is designed in such a way that GR, Gothenburg Region Association of Local Authorities (GR), is the project leader and work close together with 3 partners (subregions). Skaraborgregion and Borasregion participate within VGR. In the region of Halland the municipality of Halmstad will take responsibility for five municipalities. The subregion Fyrbodal will follow the project and will be given the opportunity to take part in activities but not as a partner. (Swedish)
