Les opérations du programme s'attachent à assurer la restauration du saumon atlantique qui avait disparu du bassin de la Garonne et à assurer une gestion raisonnée de la ressource pour des espèces qui sont encore fortement exploitées comme la lamproie et l'alose (moratoire grande alose).
