The FERMAPYR programme is based on a detailed inventory of the industrial remains of iron metallurgy and the documentary evidence associated with them between antiquity and the middle of the 17th century in the eastern part of the Pyrenees. The achievement of this inventory meets several objectives: — to maintain the preservation of material documentation which is deteriorating, — to establish a harmonised and diachronic database on the industrial heritage which covers the entire operating chain of iron, — to study the circulation of products and men in relation to this activity at the level of the Pyrenees, — to characterise the innovations and technical features developed in the Pyrenees.
