Of the approximately 26000 enterprises registered in Martinique, it is considered that more than 80 % are TPEs with fewer than 10 employees and even without employees. Ageing affects the business population and particularly the fabric of very small businesses. These TPEs where the conductor is often the conductor deserve enhanced support given the difficulties they face: limited access to bank credit, isolation of the manager, lack of supervision, lack of steering tools. However, these TPEs play an essential role in the economy, the organisation of the territory, the transmission of knowledge, the maintenance of social ties and local employment. While business start-ups remain relatively high in Martinique, divestment and transmission appears to be insufficient to cope with the ageing of executives, which will increase by 2020-2025. If a transmission is planned for at least 5 years before, it is necessary to raise awareness among leaders from the age of 55. The CCIM, aware of the challenges, has put in place a number of actions aimed at companies in training, conferences, technical workshops, exchanges. Training activities included the establishment of the School of Managers in 2009. Created at the initiative of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the School of Managers is a forum for (English)
