Keskikokoisen rakennusyhtiön dokumenttien hallinta muutetaan Product Lifecycle Management-johtamistavan ( PLM ) mukaiseksi. Rakennusten 2D-kuvista ollaan siirtymässä 3D-mallien kuvauksiin, johon tuottaa atk-malleja kv-konsortio buildingSMART. Toimintaa kuvataan termillä Building Information management ( BIM ). Sen datatiedostoformaatti on nimeltään IFC. Elinkaari tulee vahvasti mukaan rakennusdokumenttien pitkäaikaisarkistoinnissa, joka tähtää 100 vuoden perspektiiviin, jotta dokumentit ovat saatavissa korjausrakentamisvaiheessa. Yhtiön prosesseja uudistetaan, ja alihankinnassa saadaan myös yliopistoista tietotaitoa. Yritykselle tulee kykyä tarjota rakentamista mm. Senaatti-kiinteistöille. Visualisointikykyä saadaan mm. sisätilapaikannuksella ja lisätyn todellisuuden ( AR ) menetelmillä. (Finnish)

The management of the documents of a medium-sized construction company will be changed to the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) approach. The 2D images of the buildings are moving to 3D model descriptions, where computer models are produced by the International Consortium buildingSMART. This activity is described as Building Information Management (BIM). Its data file format is called IFC. The life cycle is strongly involved in the long-term archiving of building documents, which aims at a 100-year perspective, so that the documents are available during the renovation phase. The company’s processes are being reformed, and the subcontracting also provides know-how from universities. The company will have the ability to offer construction for Senate properties, for example. Visualisation is achieved by, for example, indoor positioning and augmented reality (AR) methods. (English)
