Créée en 1890 par les Sucreries Coloniales, la Sucrerie/ Distillerie de Bonne Mère est devenue depui 1973 le seul site de production de la Société Industrielle de Sucrerie (SIS), issue de la fusion en janvier 1969 de deux sociétés, la Compagnie Française de Sucrerie et la SIAPAP. Les autres sites de la SIS (usine de Darbousssier et établissement de Jarry) sont depuis lors exclusivement des sites de stockage ou administratifs. (French)
