(Spanish)

Porcine production has entered the new Post-antibiotic Era due to the social alerts currently appearing about the discovery of bacterial resistance. The pig industry must increase the pace to adapt to this new era as the large distribution is putting pressure on meat operators to produce products from pigs produced without antibiotics with a view to introducing them into their linears. In this context, this project arises from the identification of this problem by the companies PJIMENEZ, IBERCOM and BIONATURIS._x000D_ The overall objective of the project is the design of vaccination and management strategies for the modification of the prevention chain to lay the foundations of a system of production of white and Iberian pigs with a elimination of preventive medication and a substantial reduction of curative medication based on antimicrobials. These strategies will be designed considering the synergistic effects of new nutritional strategies and management. The high technological level of this objective shows a break with the current state of art on an international scale and represents an opportunity for promoters to lead the creation of pioneering processes for the fattening of live animals. The results of this project will allow PJIMENEZ and IBERCOM to consolidate themselves as national leaders in pig production and Bionaturis to increase their product portfolio by designing new vaccines and antimicrobials of natural origin for use in animal production._x000D_ The project will begin in July 2016 and 19 tasks have been planned out among the 4 project activities: design of the pilot plan; comparative study of new vaccine programmes; comparative study of plant-based antimicrobials, probiotics and functional peptides; and d) Evaluation of the effect of trinomial vaccination-handling-feeding. The total budget amounts to EUR 1,624,011. (English)
