(Spanish)

Aforesaid: Exposure to certain endocrine disruptors (DE: phenols and organochlorine compounds, brominated and perfluorinated), could increase the risk of neuropsychological disorders. On the other hand, there is evidence that alterations in the placental and intestinal microbiota could increase the risk of them. An unexplored possibility in humans is to see whether exposure to SD can modulate the structure and function of the microbiota and whether these alterations increase the risk of lifelong neuropsychological disorders. Objectives: to characterise the composition and diversity in the placental and intestinal microbiota and temporal dynamics and metagenoma in intestinal microbiota; to examine whether exposure to one or more NDs affects the microbiota; separately examine effects of the microbiota and DE on neurodevelopment; to study whether the estimated effect of individual or concurrent exposure to SD on neurodevelopment is due, in part, to the alteration of the microbiota. Methods: 1000 participants from the INMA-Asturias, Gipuzkoa, Granada, Sabadell and Valencia cohorts with placenta samples (n=200), faeces (n=170.7 years and n=1000.11-16 years), neuropsychological evaluations at 1-2, 4-5, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 14-16 years and prenatal levels of the ND described above. Data on puberal development, diet, sociodemographic factors and lifestyles available since pregnancy will be considered as control variables. (English)
