    El objetivo fundamental de este proyecto consiste en profundizar en el conocimiento de los mecanismos moleculares, bioquímicos y celulares implicados en la etiopatogenia de la enfermedad degenerativa del disco intervertebral. En particular, aquellos potencialmente ejercidos por las adipokinas y factores neuroendocrinos que regulan tanto la homeostasis energética y metabólica como la modulación de la respuesta inflamatoria e inmunológica. El estudio estará enfocado a esclarecer las bases moleculares de la degeneración discal ejercidas por la lipocalina-2 (LCN2/NGAL), la visfatina, la nesfatina-1 (NUCB2), la progranulina, la serpina-2, la chemerina y el ghrelin en las células del disco intervertebral humano. The study will focus on clarifying the molecular bases of disc degeneration exerted by lipocaline-2 (LCN2/NGAL), visfatin, nesfatin-1 (NUCB2), progranulin, serpine-2, chemerin and ghrelin in human intervertebral disc cells.
