SIN EMBARGO, SOLO LA PARTE MAS INTERNA DE LA RIA ESTA INFLUENCIADA POR PROCESOS ESTUARINOS. APROXIMADAMENTE, EL 80% RESTANTE RESPONDE A FORZAMIENTOS DIFERENTES A LOS DE LOS ESTUARIOS Y TIENE UN COMPORTAMIENTO, DESDE EL PUNTO DE VISTA SEDIMENTOLOGICO, MAS PROXIMO AL DE LA PLATAFORMA INTERNA. ASI, LOS PROCESOS SEDIMENTARIOS EN RIAS HAN SIDO POCO ESTUDIADOS HASTA EL MOMENTO, A PESAR DE LAS IMPORTANTES IMPLICACIONES EN LA ECONOMIA LOCAL. _x000D_ _x000D_ DESDE ESTA PERSPECTIVA, EL OBJETIVO PRINCIPAL DE ESTE PROYECTO ES ESTABLECER EL MODELO DE TRANSPORTE DE LA MATERIA EN SUSPENSION PARTICULADA (SPM) EN LAS RIAS DE VIGO Y MUROS. ESTE MODELO SE APOYA A) EN LA DETERMINACION DE LOS FORZAMIENTOS QUE CONTROLAN EL TRANSPORTE Y SEDIMENTACION Y, B) EN LA DEFINICION DE LAS FUENTES DE SEDIMENTO. ENTRE LOS FORZAMIENTOS SE INCLUYEN LA DESCARGA FLUVIAL, EL OLEAJE Y LA MAREA, ANALIZANDO LA GRADACION DE ESTOS PROCESOS DESDE LA ZONA INTERNA HASTA LA ZONA EXTERNA DE LAS RIAS. ADEMAS, PARA EL CASO DE LAS RIAS GALLEGAS, EXISTEN OTROS DOS FORZAMIENTOS DETERMINADOS POR LA LOCALIZACION Y CARACTERISTICAS DE ESTA COSTA: EL AFLORAMIENTO (UPWELLING) QUE INTRODUCE UNA MASA DE AGUA PROFUNDA Y FRIA EN LAS RIAS, CONTROLANDO LA CIRCULACION RESIDUAL; Y LA PLUMA DEL MIÑO QUE, BAJO LA ACCION DE LOS VIENTOS DE PLATAFORMA, FLUYE HACIA EL NORTE ENTRANDO EN LAS RIAS Y LLEGANDO A ALTERAR SU CIRCULACION NORMAL. ENTRE LAS FUENTES, SE ANALIZARAN LOS APORTES LOCALES, COMO LA PROPIA EROSION DEL FONDO, LA DESCARGA FLUVIAL Y ESCORRENTIA LOCAL, O LOS APORTES DE FUENTES BIOLOGICAS; Y LOS APORTES EXTERNOS DONDE EL SEDIMENTO ALCANZA LA RIA POR ADVECCION DESDE EL OCEANO ABIERTO. EN ESTE SENTIDO, DENTRO DEL PROYECTO SE EXPLORARAN DOS POSIBLES FUENTES MARINAS, UNA RELACIONADA CON LA SPM ARRASTRADA DURANTE EL UPWELLING DESDE EL PARCHE DE FANGO DE LA PLATAFORMA Y OTRA RELACIONADA CON EL SEDIMENTO QUE VIAJA CON LA PLUMA DEL MIÑO._x000D_ _x000D_ ESTE ESTUDIO SE VA A SUSTENTAR EN DIFERENTES TIPOS DE DATOS E INFORMACION: DATOS MEDIDOS IN SITU, MODELIZACION NUMERICA E IMAGENES SATELITALES. ASI SE INSTALARAN FONDEOS EN LAS RIAS DE MUROS Y VIGO QUE PERMITAN RECOGER SERIES TEMPORALES LARGAS DE PARAMETROS OCEANOGRAFICOS Y TRAMPAS DE SEDIMENTO. SE APLICARAN MODELOS NUMERICOS QUE NOS DEN INFORMACION SOBRE LA PROPAGACION DEL OLEAJE EN EL INTERIOR DE LAS RIAS, LA ENTRADA DEL UPWELLING EN LA RIA Y PREDICCIONES SOBRE EL COMPORTAMIENTO DE LA PLUMA. FINALMENTE, EL USO DE IMAGENES DE SATELITE PERMITIRA HACER UN SEGUIMIENTO REAL DE LA PLUMA DEL MIÑO. EL ANALISIS DETALLADO DEL SEDIMENTO SUPERFICIAL DE LA RIA Y DE LA SPM RECOGIDA EN LAS TRAMPAS (DIATOMEAS, ALQUENONAS, ETC.) TRAZARA LA PROCEDENCIA DEL MATERIAL Y DETERMINARA POR PRIMERA VEZ LA IMPORTANCIA DEL UPWELLING Y LA PLUMA DEL MIÑO COMO FUENTES DE SEDIMENTO A LAS RIAS. ESTA APROXIMACION MULTIDISCIPLINAR PERMITIRA PROPONER UN MODELO INTEGRAL DE TRANSPORTE DE SEDIMENTOS EN LAS RIAS DE VIGO Y MUROS, UTIL COMO HERRAMIENTA BASICA EN EL PROCESO DE TOMA DE DECISIONES Y GESTION EFECTIVA DE ESTOS MEDIOS. THUS, SEDIMENTARY PROCESSES IN RIVERS HAVE BEEN LITTLE STUDIED SO FAR, DESPITE THE IMPORTANT IMPLICATIONS FOR THE LOCAL ECONOMY. _x000D_ _x000D_ from THIS PERSPECTIVE, THE PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVE OF THIS PROJECT is to establish the transport model of the MATERIA in Particulate SUSPENSION (SPM) in the RIAS OF VIGO AND WORKS. THIS MODEL IS BASED ON A) THE DETERMINATION OF FORCINGS THAT CONTROL TRANSPORT AND SEDIMENTATION AND, B) THE DEFINITION OF SEDIMENT SOURCES. FORCINGS INCLUDE RIVER DISCHARGE, WAVE AND TIDE, ANALYSING THE GRADATION OF THESE PROCESSES FROM THE INTERNAL ZONE TO THE OUTER ZONE OF THE RIVERS. IN ADDITION, IN THE CASE OF GALICIAN RIVERS, THERE ARE TWO OTHER FORCINGS DETERMINED BY THE LOCATION AND CHARACTERISTICS OF THIS COAST: UPWELLING THAT INTRODUCES A BODY OF DEEP AND COLD WATER INTO THE RIVERS, CONTROLLING THE RESIDUAL CIRCULATION; AND THE FEATHER OF THE MIÑO, WHICH, UNDER THE ACTION OF THE PLATFORM WINDS, FLOWS NORTHWARDS ENTERING THE RIVERS AND EVENTUALLY ALTERS ITS NORMAL CIRCULATION. AMONG THE SOURCES, LOCAL CONTRIBUTIONS WILL BE ANALYSED, SUCH AS THE EROSION OF THE FUND ITSELF, RIVER DISCHARGE AND LOCAL RUNOFF, OR CONTRIBUTIONS FROM BIOLOGICAL SOURCES; AND EXTERNAL INPUTS WHERE SEDIMENT REACHES THE RIA BY ADVECCION FROM THE OPEN OCEAN. In this sitting, within the project will be explored two possible seafarers, a related to the SPM dragged through the upwelling from the phaNGO of the PLATAFORM and another related to the sediment that travels with the plume of the mino._x000D_ _x000D_ this state will be subject to different types of data and information: MEASURED DATA IN SITU, NUMERICAL MODELLING AND SATELLITE IMAGES. THUS ANCHORS WILL BE INSTALLED IN THE RIVERS OF WALLS AND VIGO THAT ALLOW TO COLLECT LONG TIME SERIES OF OCEANOGRAPHIC PARAMETERS AND SEDIMENT TRAPS. NUMERIC MODELS WILL BE APPLIED THAT GIVE US INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROPAGATION OF THE WAVES INSIDE THE RIVERS, THE ENTRY OF UPWELLING INTO THE RIA AND PREDICTIONS ABOUT THE BEHAVIOR OF THE PEN. FINALLY, THE USE OF SATELLITE IMAGES WILL ALLOW REAL TRACKING OF THE FEATHER OF THE MIÑO. DETAILED ANALYSIS OF THE SURFACE SEDIMENT OF THE RIA AND THE PMS COLLECTED IN TRAPS (DIATOMS, ALKENONES, ETC.) WILL TRACE THE ORIGIN OF THE MATERIAL AND DETERMINE FOR THE FIRST TIME THE IMPORTANCE OF UPWELLING AND THE MIÑO PEN AS SOURCES OF SEDIMENT TO THE RIVERS. THIS MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACH WILL MAKE IT POSSIBLE TO PROPOSE AN INTEGRAL MODEL OF SEDIMENT TRANSPORT IN THE VIGO RIVERS AND WALLS, USED AS A BASIC TOOL IN THE DECISION-MAKING PROCESS AND EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT OF THESE MEANS.
