La EDAR existente en el termino municipal de Don Benito fue diseñada en 1992. A causa del tiempo transcurrido, los equipos electromagnéticos se encuentran al limite de su vida útil. Al no haberse realizado modificaciones de relevancia en el proceso de depuración desde su construcción, se deduce la incompatibilidad de la planta en sus condiciones actuales para la exigencias de vertido en situación futura._x000D_ El objetivo del proyecto es la construcción de una nueva EDAR, diseñada para la población de las localidades de Don Benito y Villanueva de la Serena, en la provincia de Badajoz. Además la EDAR conllevará una serie de actuaciones de mejora en la red general de saneamiento como colectores y tanques de tormenta. (Spanish)

It must be borne in mind that since the design of The WWTP to date, have changed the characteristics of the effluent required by current legislation, producing the discharge to sensitive area._x000D_ The purpose of the action is to solve the problems of sanitation and purification that occur in the towns of Don Benito and Villanueva de la Serena as a consequence of the urban development of the area and that the existing facilities have become obsolete.
