Uno de los principales obstáculos para la aplicación del conocimiento sobre el cerebro humano es la fragmentación de la investigación y de los datos que produce. Se necesita una iniciativa coordinada que utilice las tecnologías de información y comunicación emergentes para integrar estos datos en una visión unificada del cerebro como un único sistema de niveles múltiples. El Cluster Emergent del Cervell Humà (CECH) tiene el propósito de tejer una infraestructura colaborativa en Cataluña que permita a los investigadores trabajar desde un marco integrador con la finalidad de crear sinergias que faciliten soluciones innovadoras desde la Neurociencia, para los retos actuales y futuros de nuestra sociedad. El objetivo general de este esfuerzo multidisciplinar es comprender la dinámica del cerebro a distintas escalas fisiológicas, caracterizar trastornos que afectan nuestra población de forma prevalente e incapacitante (TDAH, dislexia, epilepsia y migraña), y generar opciones terapéuticas innovadoras. El CECH abordará estos retos mediante el diseño de nuevas tecnologías que permitan evaluar y modular la actividad cerebral usando técnicas de medida y estimulación cerebral, la neurotecnología, el desarrollo de biomarcadores, la realidad virtual, el modelado teórico, y la creación de una plataforma abierta para facilitar el uso de herramientas de diseño de neurofármacos. Para afrontar este reto, el CECH se estructura en cinco proyectos marco y contará con una red de 8 instituciones punteras en Cataluña, cuyo núcleo impulsor está formado por l¿Institut d¿Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS), Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), Vall d¿Hebron Institut de Recerca (VHIR) y la Universidad Pompeu Fabra (UPF), líder y coordinador del proyecto. One of the main obstacles to the application of knowledge about the human brain is the fragmentation of the research and the data it produces. A coordinated initiative that uses emerging information and communication technologies is needed to integrate this data into a unified vision of the brain as a single multi-level system. The Cluster Emergent of Cervell Humà (CECH) has the purpose of weaving a collaborative infrastructure in Catalonia that allows researchers to work from an integrating framework in order to create synergies that facilitate innovative solutions from Neuroscience, for current and future challenges of our society. The general objective of this multidisciplinary effort is to understand the dynamics of the brain at different physiological scales, to characterize disorders that affect our population in a prevalent and disabling way (ADHD, dyslexia, epilepsy and migraine), and to generate innovative therapeutic options. The CECH will address these challenges through the design of new technologies that allow the evaluation and modulation of brain activity using brain measurement and stimulation techniques, neurotechnology, the development of biomarkers, virtual reality, theoretical modeling, and the creation of an open platform to facilitate the use of neuropharmaceutical design tools. To face this challenge, the CECH is structured in five framework projects and will have a network of 8 leading institutions in Catalonia, whose driving force is formed by the August Pi i Sunyer Institute for Biomedical Research (IDIBAPS), Barcelona Supercomputing Center ( BSC), Vall d'Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR) and Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), leader and coordinator of the project.
