EN LO QUE RESPECTA A DATOS URBANOS, NOS CENTRAREMOS EN LA GENERACION DE REPRESENTACIONES PLAUSIBLES (MODELOS GEOMETRICOS Y DE MULTITUDES) A PARTIR DE DATOS REALES. LA NECESIDAD DE ESTE TIPO DE SINTESIS DE INFORMACION NACE DEL HECHO DE QUE LOS SISTEMAS DE CAPTURA GENERAN MODELOS CON INFORMACION INSUFICIENTE O SIN LA CALIDAD ADECUADA (CARTOGRAFIA DIGITAL, ESCANEADOS LIDAR) PARA HACERLA VIABLE PARA SU USO EN APLICACIONES COMO INGENIERIA, ARQUITECTURA O SMART CITIES._x000D_ _x000D_ PARA ELLO SE PRECISA DEL DISEÑO E IMPLEMENTACION DE ALGORITMOS EFICIENTES PARA LA MANIPULACION DE LOS DATOS, CADA VEZ MAYORES Y CON INFORMACION MAS HETEROGENEA. ADEMAS, Y PARA SACARLE VERDADERO PARTIDO, HACE FALTA DESARROLLAR SISTEMAS DE VISUALIZACION QUE PERMITAN MOSTRAR LA TOTALIDAD DE LOS DATOS Y AL MISMO TIEMPO PROPORCIONEN MECANISMOS PARA LA SELECCION Y FILTRADO DE PARTE DE LA INFORMACION BASANDOSE EN CARACTERISTICAS GEOMETRICAS O SEMANTICAS PARA LA OBTENCION DE VISTAS MAS SENCILLAS QUE FACILITEN LA EXTRACCION DE CONOCIMIENTO, EL TESTEO DE HIPOTESIS, O LA PRESENTACION DE RESULTADOS. PARA ELLO, SE TRABAJARA A NIVEL DE PROCESADO, OPTIMIZACION Y PRESENTACION DE LA INFORMACION, PERO TAMBIEN DESARROLLANDO METODOS DE INTERACCION NATURAL PARA SU EXPLORACION, USANDO LOS ENTORNOS MAS ADECUADOS A CADA PROBLEMA, INCLUYENDO LA REALIDAD VIRTUAL, LA REALIDAD AUMENTADA, Y LOS DISPOSITIVOS DE ENTRADA MAS MODERNOS._x000D_ _x000D_ LOS OBJETIVOS GENERALES DEL PROYECTO SE CONCRETAN EN AREAS DE VISUALIZACION, MODELADO DE ENTORNOS URBANOS, INTERACCION, Y SIMULACION DE COMPORTAMIENTO DE PERSONAS Y MULTITUDES. DICHOS OBJETIVOS SE ENMARCAN DENTRO DEL RETO EN ECONOMIA Y SOCIEDAD DIGITAL DEL PLAN NACIONAL, EN PARTICULAR EN LAS PRIORIDADES TEMATICAS RELATIVAS AL DESARROLLO DE TECNOLOGIAS Y APLICACIONES PARA SISTEMAS MOVILES, SOLUCIONES LIGADAS A BIG DATA, CIUDADES INTELIGENTES, Y SISTEMAS Y PROCESOS ORIENTADOS A CONTENIDOS DIGITALES. A PESAR DEL MARCADO CARACTER TRANSVERSAL DE LOS TRABAJOS QUE SE LLEVARAN A CABO, LOS OBJETIVOS ESPECIFICOS ESTAN ENCAMINADOS A PROPORCIONAR TECNOLOGIAS PARA FACILITAR EL DESARROLLO DE APLICACIONES 3D ORIENTADAS A MEJORAR LA CALIDAD DE VIDA DE LAS PERSONAS TANTO EN LO RELATIVO A LA SALUD (AYUDA AL DIAGNOSTICO CLINICO, SIMULACION DE BIOMECANICA EN EL DEPORTE, DISEÑO DE FARMACOS) COMO A NUESTRO ENTORNO MAS PROXIMO (COMPORTAMIENTO Y SIMULACION DE MULTITUDES, PLANIFICACION URBANA SOSTENIBLE, PATRIMONIO CULTURAL).     IN THIS PROJECT, WE FOCUS ON DEALING WITH LARGE MODELS STEMMING MAINLY FROM TWO FIELDS: LIFE SCIENCES AND URBAN MODELING. IN LIFE SCIENCES WE WILL ADDRESS THREE DISTINCT SOURCES OF INFORMATION: MEDICAL IMAGING DEVICES (IN THE CONTEXT OF SPECIFIC DIAGNOSTIC PROBLEMS AND FOR TRAINING), MOLECULAR SIMULATIONS IN PHARMACOLOGY, AND BIOMECHANICAL DATA. CONCERNING URBAN MODELING, WE WILL FOCUS ON THE GENERATION OF PLAUSIBLE MODELS (GEOMETRIC MODELS, SIMULATION OF CROWD BEHAVIORS) FROM THE RAW DATA. THE DATA-CAPTURE SYSTEMS IN USE IN THESE APPLICATIONS (FOR EXAMPLE DIGITAL CARTOGRAPHY OR LIDAR SCANNERS) PROVIDE MODELS WITH INCOMPLETE INFORMATION, OR WITH NOT GOOD ENOUGH QUALITY FOR THE APPLICATIONS WE ENVISION IN ENGINEERING, ARCHITECTURE OR SMART CITIES._x000D_ _x000D_ ALONG WITH THE DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF EFFICIENT ALGORITHMS TO MANIPULATE THESE EVER-GROWING COLLECTIONS OF HETEROGENEOUS DATA, WE WILL NEED NEW VISUALIZATION SYSTEMS. THESE NEW SYSTEMS SHOULD BE ABLE TO PRESENT THE COMPLETE DATA, BUT SHOULD ALSO SUPPORT METHODS TO SELECT AND FILTER PARTS OF THAT INFORMATION BASED ON GEOMETRIC OR SEMANTIC CRITERIA, THUS OBTAINING SIMPLER RENDITIONS THAT FACILITATE COMPREHENSION, KNOWLEDGE EXTRACTION, HYPOTHESIS TESTING AND THE PRESENTATION OF RESULTS, TO ULTIMATELY BE ABLE TO REALLY EXPLOIT THIS FLOOD OF INFORMATION. TO THIS END, WE INTEND TO WORK ON PROCESSING, OPTIMIZING AND PRESENTING THIS INFORMATION, AND ALSO DEVELOPING METHODS FOR NATURAL INTERACTION IN THIS CONTEXT, USING THE BEST-FIT TECHNIQUE IN EACH CASE, INCLUDING AUGMENTED AND VIRTUAL REALITY AND THE MOST ADVANCED INPUT DEVICES AVAILABLE._x000D_ _x000D_ THE GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF THIS PROJECT CENTER ON VISUALIZATION, MODELING URBAN ENVIRONMENTS, INTERACTION AND SIMULATION OF NATURAL PHENOMENA AND THE BEHAVIOR OF PEOPLE AND CROWDS. THESE OBJECTIVES FIT SQUARELY IN THE CHALLENGE ¿ECONOMIA Y SOCIEDAD DIGITAL¿ OF THE ¿PLAN NACIONAL I+D¿. SPECIFICALLY, IN THE PRIORITY TOPICS CONCERNED WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF APPLICATIONS AND TECHNOLOGIES FOR MOBILE SYSTEMS, SOLUTIONS RELATED TO BIG DATA, SMART CITIES AND SYSTEMS AND PROCESSES FOR DIGITAL CONTENT. DESPITE THE TRANSVERSAL NATURE OF THE PROPOSED WORK, THE SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES ARE CONCEIVED TO FACILITATE THE DEVELOPMENT OF 3D APPLICATIONS MEANT TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF THE PEOPLE, BOTH IN THEIR HEALTH (SUPPORT FOR CLINICAL DIAGNOSIS, SIMULATIONS IN SPORTS BIOMECHANICS, DESIGN OF NEW DIGS) AND IN THEIR IMMEDIATE SURROUNDINGS (CROWD BEHAVIOR SIMULATION, SUSTAINABLE URBAN DESIGN, CULTURAL HERITAGE).
