Hlavným cieľom je zvýšenie atraktivity cyklistickej dopravy prostredníctvom budovania siete bezpečných cyklotrás a nadväzujúcej infraštruktúry v meste. Projekt zabezpečí riešenie funkčných prevádzkových vzťahov - doplnenie chýbajúcej infraštruktúry nemotorovej dopravy s cieľom vybudovať moderné komunikácie pre cyklistov v ťažiskovom priestore mesta Spišská Nová Ves.Účelom výstavby cykloradiály je úprava a rekonštrukcia komunikácií pre cyklistov v smere najviac využívanom, t. j. od centra mesta smerom na sídlisko Západ I.a obec Smižany a ich prepojenie na autobusovú a železničnú stanicu. The main objective is to increase the attractiveness of cycling by building a network of safe cycling routes and downstream infrastructure in the city. The project will provide the solution of functional operational relations – the addition of the missing infrastructure of non-motorised transport in order to build modern roads for cyclists in the centre of Spišská Nová Ves. The purpose of the construction of the cycling radio is the adjustment and reconstruction of roads for cyclists in the direction most used, i.e. from the city center towards the settlement West I. and the village of Smižany and their connection to the bus and railway station.
