Viimastel aastatel on inseneriteadus tunginud jõuliselt bioloogiasse võimaldades luua täiesti uudsete omadustega süsteeme. Tippkeskus toob kokku uurimisrühmad, mis omavad kompetentsi erinevate bioloogiliste süsteemide modifitseerimisel ja kemikaalide loomisel. Rakendustena nähakse uudsete lahenduste loomist jätkusuutliku biomajanduse tarbeks, rakuliste biosensorite loomist ja uudsete bioaktiivsete ühendite väljatöötamist. (Estonian)
