The project aims to improve the health services offered to the population of Rakhiv and Sighetu-Marmatiei and their surroundings, a total of approximately 230000 people. In the context of constant decrease of natality in the CBC area and raising numbers on female reproductive cancers, the project’s goal is to improve departments of obstetrics- gynecology and neonatology, radiology (detection of cancer). The constant under-financing of the two hospitals in recent years has led to a decrease in their capacity for diagnosis and treatment. The current technological development also makes some of the equipment in the two hospitals to be overcome and to force patients to move to other hospitals. Of course, this leads to higher costs for patients and their families as well as delyed diagnosis and treatment. The main actions aims at: 1. Increasing number of medical equipments. The project will increase density of medical equipments from 0.63 to 0.82 by purchasing 44 equipments on the departments: obstetrics-gynecology, neonatology, radiology, ophthalmology. 2. Improving professional skills of medical staff. 60 medical staff from obstetrics-gynecology, neonatology and infectious departments of both hospitals will be participating in specialised trainings on the topics: Neonatal resuscitation, Infectious diseases associated with pregnancy and newborns, Pre/Postnatal care. 3. Raising awareness on child birth and parenthood milestones. The target audience are couples planning to have a child, expecting or having a newborn (<1 year old). There will be organized in each town the event “Parents School Weekend” where approx. 200 people will be provided with theoretical and practical information on pregnancy, birth, infant care. All these achievements will be put to the service of the populations and this partnership can serve as a model for other hospital units. (English)
