Projects background: The project consortium brings together partners with varied experience and competence – all contributing to achieving the goal of the project – building a modular cloud-based IT platform for poultry flock management. Currently WeAreDots - here and after DOTS (previously Squalio cloud consulting) has delivered an IT system for Balticovo – next generation VISTA, which is an IT system to assist with poultry flock management for Balticovo – largest poultry producer in Norther Europe. Next generation VISTA only meets the requirements of a single/ industrial and large poultry producer, which are very specific and based on defined business requirements of Balticovo. Thus far DOTS has only worked with Balticovo and it is the single poultry producer whose business requirements are known and implemented in the system. Since there is not another producer of the size and scale of Balticovo in the market in Norther Europe, however, there is a need for modernisation and willingness to introduce IT solutions to the poultry industry, the project consortium in the context of the Interreg programme will strive to meet the requirements of majority of poultry produce enterprises with the PFM – AIHEN solution. This will be achieved by combining the experience of DOTS (IT infrastructure modernisation and customer existing-system migration to cloud-based infrastructures companies) and Wazombi (one of the top user interface developers in Estonia with professional experience in prototyping, wireframing and system interface design) and engaging Straupes Ligzda and Linnu Talu – enterprises representative of the average, more typical poultry industry. Both will contribute as the model new system users, assisting with interface requirement identification, validation and testing. Engagement of Straupes Ligzda and Linnu Talu was also supported by Latvian Egg Producers Association and Estonian Poultry Society, since both are active members of respective associations. Additionally to ensure that the system meets the requirements of two, same sector, but different markets – Poultry Associations will serve as facilitators – they, led by technology partners, will further identify the needs, validate and test the system with their membership. This approach will allow considering different operational models, levels of technology used within the organisations and other specific needs e.g. different species of birds, differences in ways of keeping the birds and other factors. Cross-border nature: Developing a solution that would meet the expectations of same sector two neighbouring, but different markets, will allow identifying and satisfying as many different requirements as possible. This also allows putting foundation for further product positioning, offering and sales of the system to different poultry industry enterprises. If this project would be running only in one market without cross border user requirement collection and validation, it would not achieve the same potential for scaling it in Baltic region, EU an beyond. Objectives: By using the best experience from the programme area, to build a cloud-based IT platform for poultry flock management, that meets the requirements and needs of poultry industry enterprises from the programme area, Baltic region, European Union and beyond. Operating under the brand of Interreg, serve as a best practice example for a cross-sector (IT industry and poultry industry) regional collaboration and therefore prove the capability of developing a successful, useful and highly competitive solution. To open more opportunities for seeing the benefits of introducing information technology to the industry. The built system has high potential of contributing to modernisation of the poultry industry in the programme area, allow better collaboration between the enterprises to take place and by doing this, contribute to opportunities for export competitiveness of the region as well as enable avoiding overproduction in the market. Project will require very close interrelation of the partners involved. Key role in defining of specifications, validating and testing the built system will be to the Straupes Ligzda and Linnu Talu, however both technology partners will be leading and guiding this process. The sequence of project activities: Led by DOTS and Wazombi Straupes Ligzda and Linnu Talu will be defining specifications and requirements for further development of the system; Defined specification are validated with members of Latvian Egg Producers Association and Estonian Poultry Society; DOTS and Wazombi will further develop the system based on the specifications: DOTS transforming the system from a single user server-based to to a modular cloud based system accessible via website online (website will serve both as the information page on the project; and as the entry point to the PFM-AIHEN system); Wazombi user interface development (UI/UX); Straupes Ligzda and Linnu Talu validating and testi (English)
