CHALLENGE: Nanotechnologies, biosensors and additive process engineering can lead to completely new, patient-adapted solutions in the field of medical technology. The high location relevance of the topics for Upper Austria and South Bohemia is shown by the defined strengths of building and polymer electronics and medical technology (S3). However, there is a lack of constant cooperation between the key actors for business, research and innovation and their network partners and to exploit the potential of the technologies. AIM: The aim of the project is long-term contacts and relationships with relevant R&D; and to establish corporate actors in a transnational innovation network for the above-mentioned areas in the two project regions in order to increase competitiveness and innovative strength. This functional network of contacts, paired with a competence mapping for the two sectors mentioned, is intended to help quickly form project consortia on specific topics in the future and to finance these appropriately by making use of appropriate regional, national and EU-wide funding programs. RESULTS: The main result is an improved willingness to cooperate between research institutions, technology providers, SMEs and end users through coordinated R&D; Priorities and transregional cooperation projects to further develop the technologies. APPROACH: a survey of the research priorities and research needs of the regions in the context of nanotechnologies, biosensors and additive manufacturing, establishment of new cross-technology and cross-regional focus groups from industry and research in the field of medical applications and integrated plastics technology, visualization of competencies and the research infrastructure in a map, Development of an open innovation process by networking the requirements and offers collected by means of new digital possibilities (webinar), active matchmaking and strategic technology and innovation roadmapping. INNOVATION: NABIAM uses innovative concepts such as design thinking and matchmaking events to establish an innovation network in the field of nanotechnologies, biosensors and additive process engineering. Based on the concept of Innovation Hubs, NABIAM would like to facilitate access to the latest research results, specialist knowledge and technologies in these areas of biosensors, nanotechnologies and additive process engineering for companies as well as universities, research institutions and clusters.
