IPSCS SE PUEDEN DERIVAR DE CUALQUIER INDIVIDUO MEDIANTE LA REPROGRAMACIÓN DE LAS CÉLULAS DEL CUERPO, Y LUEGO CONVERTIDO EN CUALQUIER TIPO DE CÉLULA DE INTERÉS. PRODUCIREMOS MODELOS 3D DE PATOLOGÍAS DE NEURODESARROLLO, NEURODEGENERATIVAS Y TUMORES CEREBRALES. ANALIZAREMOS ESTOS MODELOS DE ENFERMEDADES PARA ESTUDIAR SUS MECANISMOS Y EVALUAR SI PUEDEN UTILIZARSE PARA PRUEBAS FARMACOLÓGICAS Y PARA EL DESARROLLO DE HERRAMIENTAS DIAGNÓSTICAS.     THE LACK OF APPROPRIATE IN VITRO MODELS OF THE HUMAN NERVOUS SYSTEM HINDERS THE UNDERSTANDING OF PATHOLOGICAL MECHANISMS AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF DRUGS. THIS PROJECT AIMS TO GENERATE, THROUGH INNOVATIVE METHODS OF GUIDED GENERATION OF ORGANOIDS AND 3D BIOPRINTING, NEW 3D MODELS OF THE HUMAN NERVOUS SYSTEM BASED ON BRAIN CELLS DERIVED FROM INDUCED PLURIPOTENT STEM CELLS (IPSC). IPSCS CAN BE DERIVED FROM ANY INDIVIDUAL BY REPROGRAMMING THE CELLS OF THE BODY, AND THEN CONVERTED INTO ANY TYPE OF CELL OF INTEREST. WE WILL PRODUCE 3D MODELS OF NEURODEVELOPMENTAL PATHOLOGIES, NEURODEGENERATIVES, AND BRAIN TUMORS. WE WILL ANALYSE THESE DISEASE MODELS TO STUDY THEIR MECHANISMS, AND TO ASSESS WHETHER THEY CAN BE USED FOR PHARMACOLOGICAL TESTING AND FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF DIAGNOSTIC TOOLS. THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF THE PROJECT IS THAT THESE 3D MODELS CHARACTERISED BY BEING PATIENT-SPECIFIC, BECOME RELIABLE PLATFORMS FOR PHARMACOLOGICAL SCREENING FOR DOCTORS (English)
