    THE REMPRO (REDUNDANT MICROPROCESSOR) PROJECT AIMS TO CREATE A PROGRAMMABLE DEVICE (MICROCONTROLLER) THAT IS FAULT-TOLERANT, I.E. A PROCESSING DEVICE CAPABLE OF EXECUTING A PROGRAM CODE CAPABLE OF CONTINUING TO CORRECTLY PERFORM ITS ALGORITHM, DESPITE THE OCCURRENCE, IN A RANDOM WAY, OF TEMPORARY AND/OR PERMANENT FAILURES IN ITS CIRCUITS. THE RELIABILITY OF THE DEVICE WOULD BE SUPERIOR TO THAT OF A DEVICE, MADE WITH THE SAME TECHNOLOGY, THAT DOES NOT IMPLEMENT THE HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS USED FOR FAULT TOLERANCE. THE TYPICAL AREAS IN WHICH THE APPLICATION USE OF THE PROGRAMMABLE DEVICE IS USEFUL ARE SPATIAL OR AVIONIC ONES, IN WHICH HIGH-ENERGY PARTICLES CAN INTERACT WITH MICROELECTRONIC CIRCUITS. (English)
